경명여자중학교 졸업생 여러분! 전 삼성 라이온즈의 '헐크', 이만수 감독입니다!

여러분, 아시는 분들도 있겠지만 저는 한국 프로야구 '1호 홈런'의 주인공입니다. 그리고 프로통산 252개의 홈런을 쳤습니다. 하지만 그 홈런 뒤에는 수만 번의 헛스윙이 있었습니다.

이제 정든 교복을 벗고 교문을 나서는 여러분의 마음이 얼마나 설레고, 또 한편으로는 떨릴지 저도 잘 압니다. 앞날에 가끔은 삼진 아웃 같은 날도 올 겁니다. 하지만 겁먹지 마세요! 삼진을 두려워하면 홈런을 칠 수 없습니다.

인생이라는 경기에서 가장 중요한 건 점수가 아니라, 끝까지 포기하지 않는 마음입니다. 여러분 인생의 '1호 홈런'을 향해 힘차게 배트를 휘두르세요! 제가 여러분의 영원한 1호 팬이 되어 응원하겠습니다.

Graduates of Kyungmyeong Girls' Middle School! I'm Lee Man-soo, the former ‘Hulk’ of the Samsung Lions!

Some of you may know this, but I hit the very first home run in Korean professional baseball. And I hit 252 home runs in my professional career. But behind those home runs were tens of thousands of swings and misses.

I know exactly how excited and nervous you must feel as you take off your cherished school uniform and walk through the school gates. In the days ahead, you'll have days that feel like striking out. But don't be afraid! If you fear striking out, you can never hit a home run.

In the game of life, what matters most isn't the score, but the spirit that refuses to give up until the very end. Swing your bat powerfully toward your life's ‘first home run’! I will be your eternal number one fan, cheering you on.
