24일 이윤 대표가 앞으로 있을 라오스 루앙프라방 야구장 건설 계획안에 대한 설명회를 했다. 이날 참석한 사람은 김한근 감독과 손사랑 코치 이윤 대표와 나 그리고 박은지 대표가 참석했고 이윤 대표가 브리핑했다.
이날 미팅은 쉬지 않고 두시간 동안 이윤 대표가 만들어온 프로젝트를 우리에게 알게 쉽게 설명회를 했다. 물론 서로 돌아가며 질문도 하고 어려운 부분에 대해서는 서로 토론도 하며 정말 좋은 시간을 가졌다.
서로가 건전하게 자기 생각과 노하우를 갖고 편안한 마음으로 모두가 한 마음으로 이야기 했더니 시간이 얼마나 빠르게 지나가는지 모른다. 라오스 루앙프라방에서 앞으로 있을 야구장을 위해 이런 토론회를 한다고는 정말 생각지도 못한 일이다.
이날 주제는 주로 루앙프라방 수파누봉대학교 내 부지에 야구장을 건설하고 50년 장기 계약을 추진하는 것이다. 나 또한 대학교 안에 야구할 수 있는 땅이 있으니 대학교에서 앞으로 있을 야구장을 짓자고 이야기 했다. 그러나 오늘 이 자리에 모인 모든 사람들의 의견은 대학 안에 야구장을 짓는 것이 생각보다 많은 제약이 있어 제대로 훈련할 수 없을 때가 있단다.
캄보디아에서 야구장을 지었던 김길현 교수도 대학내에 야구장 짓는 것보다 차라리 시간이 걸리더라도 천천히 학교가 아닌 외부에 땅을 사서 야구장 짓는 것이 미래를 위해서라도 훨씬 좋다고 조언해 주었다.
오늘 모인 자리에서 서로가 좋은 의견들을 내 놓으니 내가 생각지도 못한 좋은 아이디어가 많이 나온다. 오늘 이윤 대표가 브리핑 하면서 모두가 하는 이야기가 절대 서둘러서는 안 된다고 한다. 서두르면 잘못 될 수 있으니 천천히 하나씩 해 나가는 것이 가장 좋다며 뜻을 같이 했다.
한 나라를 변화 시키고 한 나라를 새롭게 한다는 것은 말처럼 쉽지 않다. 물론 좋은 뜻에서 청소년들에게 꿈과 희망을 주려고 하지만 받아드리는 청소년들은 평생 해온 습관으로 인해 좀처럼 자신들이 갖고 있는 습관을 고치기가 어렵다.
3월 24일인데도 38도가 넘을 때가 많다. 이렇게 덥다보니 청소년들이 운동장에 나가 운동한다는 것은 상상도 할 수 없다. 이런 학생들에게 새로운 야구를 가르쳐 주고 이들과 함께 하기 위해서는 다른 각도에서 접근하지 않으면 안 된다.
여러번 글로 썼지만 이 나라는 이런 문화가 있다.
'얼굴이 하얗거나 피부가 희면 미남 미녀로 생각한다' 이런 문화를 갖고 있기 때문에 젊은이들이 더운 날씨에 운동장에 나가 운동한다는 것은 상상도 할 수 없는 일이다. 이런 문화를 갖고 있는 이들에게 지난 12년 동안 야구를 통해 이들과 함께 땀을 흘리며 야구할 수 있었던 것은 끊임 없이 이야기 하고 왜 운동해야 하는지에 대해 납득시켜가며 함께 운동했다.
라오스는 우기철과 건기가 뚜렷하게 구별되는 나라다. 11월부터 3월까지는 주로 건기철이고 3월말부터 시작해 10월말까지는 우기철이다. 그렇다보니 앞으로 야구장을 지을 때도 많은 생각을 갖고 야구장을 지어야 한다.
이윤 대표의 브리핑으로 인해 앞으로 있을 야구장에 대한 새로운 희망을 갖고 달려가기로 했다.

Professor Kim Gil-hyun, who built a baseball stadium in Cambodia, also advised that it is much better for the future to slowly buy land outside of the school even if it takes time than to build a baseball stadium in the university.
As we come up with good opinions at today's gathering, there are a lot of good ideas that I couldn't even think of. CEO Lee Yun said during the briefing today that everyone should never hurry. They agreed that it is best to do it one by one because it can go wrong if you hurry.
Changing a country and rebuilding a country is not as easy as it sounds. Of course, they try to give dreams and hopes to teenagers in a good way, but accepting teenagers are rarely able to break their habit because of their lifelong habits.
It is often over 38 degrees Celsius even though it is March 24. It is so hot that it is impossible to imagine teenagers going out to the field and exercising. To teach these students new baseball games and be with them, they must approach them from a different angle.
