어제(20일) 베트남 하노이에 있는 나의 친구인 신재영 대표로부터 멋진 동영상 하나가 날라왔다. 동영상은 베트남 국영방송에서 방영이 된 스포츠뉴스다. 베트남 야구국가대표 초대 감독인 박효철 후배가 선수들을 지도하는 모습이다.

이제 열흘도 남지 않았다. 드디어 베트남 야구국가대표 팀이 7월 1일 열흘간의 미니캠프를 위해 한국에 들어온다. 지난번에도 언급한 바 있지만 이번에 한국에 들어올 수 있었던 것도 대한민국 문체부와 대한체육회 그리고 대한야구소프트볼협회의 배려로 베트남 국가대표 선수들이 최초로 한국에 들어와 좋은 경험을 쌓을 것이라 기대한다.

앞으로 다가올 시게임(Sea game)을 위해 대한민국 정부에서 특별히 신경을 써 베트남 야구국가대표 선수들이 위대한 대한민국 선진야구를 경험하게 될 것이다.

박효철 감독의 풍부한 지도자 경험을 통해 베트남 야구는 하루가 다르게 급성장하고 있다. 박효철 감독의 장점이라고 한다면 야구의 기본기를 중요하게 생각하고 있고 또 야구 가르치기를 사명으로 생각하는 훌륭한 지도자다.

베트남 야구는 아직 야구 인프라가 제대로 갖추어지지 않은 나라다. 부족한 베트남 야구를 발전시키고 대중스포츠로 활성화 되기 위해서는 많은 시간과 노력이 필요하다.

이제 베트남 청소년들에게 야구가 조금씩 보급되기 시작하면서 야구에 대한 관심이 크게 증가하고 있음을 보게 된다. 이러한 베트남 야구의 급격한 발전은 박효철 감독의 숨은 공로가 가장 크다고 생각한다.

베트남 야구 발전을 위해 불철주야 노력하고 있는 박효철 감독은 베트남의 야구 발전이 비록 더디고 느리지만 올바른 방향으로 나아가고 있다. 1904년 필립 질레트 선교사로 부터 시작된 한국야구가 120년이 지난 지금 프로야구 천만관중을 이끌어 낼지 누가 알았겠는가?

불모지 땅에서 결실을 맺기까지 얼마나 많은 어려움이 있었겠는가? 누군가의 희생이 없었더라면 일구어 낼 수 없는 일이다 그 자리에 박효철 감독이 있어 야구인 선배로서 후배가 자랑스럽다.

Through Park Hyo-chul's rich leadership experience, Vietnamese baseball is rapidly growing day by day. Park Hyo-chul's strength is that he is a great leader who values the basics of baseball and his mission is to teach baseball.

Vietnamese baseball is a country that does not yet have proper baseball infrastructure. It takes a lot of time and effort to develop Vietnamese baseball, which is insufficient, and to be activated as a popular sport.

Now, as baseball begins to spread little by little to Vietnamese youth, interest in baseball is increasing significantly. I think the rapid development of Vietnamese baseball is the greatest contribution of coach Park Hyo-chul.

Coach Park Hyo-chul, who is working hard all night to develop Vietnamese baseball, is moving in the right direction, albeit slowly and slowly. Who knew that Korean baseball, which started with missionary Philip Gillette in 1904, will draw 10 million viewers in professional baseball now, 120 years later?

How many difficulties would there have been before it came to fruition in barren land? It is impossible to achieve without someone's sacrifice. I am proud of my junior as a senior baseball player because there is manager Park Hyo-chul there.
