< 한템포 늦추어야 한다 >

연일 많은 스케줄로 인해 그만 탈이 나고 말았다. 이번 인도네시아 '유소년 야구 아카데미'는 대성공적이었다. 무엇보다 이번에 들어간 '헐크파운데이션' 스텝중에서 이만수, 권혁돈 감독, 최홍준 부장, 조성제 팀장, 그리고 나경훈 코치, 김대륙 코치, 김세훈 코치 등 7명이다.

이번 7명은 K - 야구를 갖고 인도네시아 젊은 청소년들에게 야구를 전파하는데 전혀 손색이 없을 정도로 잘했다. 아니 최고였음을 자부할 정도로 모두 자기가 맡은 자리에서 최선을 다해 이들로 하여금 '매년 초청하고 싶다'며 이야기 한다.

최소 새벽 6시 전에는 일어나 7시에 운동장으로 출발한다. 이렇게 이른 아침에 운동장에 나가면 저녁 9시나 아니면 늦은 밤 10시에 호텔에 도착한다. 간단하게 샤워하고 잠자리에 들어가면 모두가 곧바로 수면으로 들어간다.

이렇게 열흘간 빡빡한 스케줄을 소화하려면 가장 먼저 체력이 되지 않으면 안 된다. 젊은 코치들은 얼마든지 감당할 수 있는 나이지만 이제 나에게는 이런 스케줄이 무리가 아닐 수 없다.

결국 많은 신경과 빡신 스케줄 그리고 한국에서의 연일 지방으로 다니다 보니 그만 탈이 나고 말았다. 3일째 되는 날 그만 '봉와직염'이 오고 말았다. 처음 '봉와직염' 왔을 때가 '2023년 9월 중국항저우아시안게임'에 출전할 때다. 이때 중국에서 고생한 것을 생각하면 여기 인도네시아 늦은 밤부터 얼마나 많이 걱정을 했는지 모른다.

혹시 너무 고통스러워 중간에 한국으로 돌아가는 것은 아닌지 많이 걱정했다. 한국에서 미리 해열제와 항생제 그리고 통풍약까지 먹으면서 견디었다. 오른쪽 발목과 장단지는 점점 부풀어 올라온다. 더 이상 붙거나 통중이 있으면 어쩔 수 없이 한국으로 들어갈 수 밖에 없다.

4일째부터 더 이상 오열은 없었지만 다리는 많이 부었다. 나중에는 신발을 신을 수 없을 정도지만 최대로 신발 끈을 늘려서 신었다. 모두가 나만 쳐다보며 나의 일거수 일투족을 관심있게 보는 인도네시아 야구협회 사람들과 선수들 그리고 학부형들로 인해 아픔을 표시 낼 수도 없는 상황이다.

혹 나로 인해 처음 온 인도네시아 '유소년 야구 아카데미'가 이상하게 될지 몰라 조금 거북하고 힘들어도 즐겁게 이들과 함께 했다. 그런데 이상할 정도로 일단 유니폼만 입으면 어디서 힘이 쏟아 나오는지 아픔도 잊고 어린선수들과 신이나서 잘한다.

이번 인도네시아 '유소년 야구 아카데미' 끝나자마자 한국에 들어와 곧바로 몇일도 쉬지 못하고 돌아오는 7월 22일 베트남으로 들어가 '제 4회 내셔널컵 야구대회'를 위해 이들과 함께 해야 한다. 그런데 이번에 너무 무리했던지 아니면 그동안 피로가 쌓였던지 그만 한국에 들어와 병원 신세를 지고 말았다.

한국에 들어와 하루 병원에 입원해 링거와 씨름하며 지냈다. 베트남 들어가기 위해 이미 비행기표와 호텔을 다 예약한 상태라 이 일을 어떻게 하면 좋을지 쉬지도 못하고 고민에 쌓였다.

앞으로 더 멀리 이들에게 야구를 보급하고 전파하기 위해서는 내려 놓아야 한다. 내려 놓지 못하면 더 하고 싶어도 건강으로 인해 더 달려갈 수 없다. 베트남 야구협회 미스터 판과 박효철 감독에게 미안하지만 멀리 달려가기 위해 이번 만큼은 집에서 쉬기로 했다.

지금까지 너무 미련스럽게 나의 건강도 돌보지 않고 열심히 달려왔다. 이제는 나의 건강과 야구를 갖고 더 멀리 달려가기 위해 잠시 한템포 늦추어야 한다. 그리고 나 아니더라도 나보다 더 훌륭하고 멋진 후배들이 있음을 잊어서는 안 된다.

이제 나의 짐을 조금씩 내려놓고 후배들이 할 수 있도록 길을 열어주어야 한다.

Due to a lot of work, I got sick. The upcoming baseball academy in Indonesia was a huge success. Most of all, seven members of the Hulk Foundation including Lee Man-soo, Kwon Hyuk-don, Choi Hong-joon, Cho Seong-je, and Na Kyung-hoon, Kim Dae-ryuk, and Kim Se-hoon were included.

This time, the seven were so good that they had K-baseball and spread it to young Indonesian teenagers. No, everyone does their best in their position to the extent that they are proud of being the best, and they say, "I want to invite them every year."

I get up at least before 6 a.m. and leave for the playground at 7 a.m. This early in the morning when I go to the playground, I arrive at the hotel at 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. late at night. Everyone goes to sleep right away after a simple shower.

In order to carry out such a tight schedule for 10 days, you must have physical strength first. Young coaches are old enough to handle, but this schedule is now too much for me.

In the end, I had a lot of nerves, a hard schedule, and traveling to the countryside every day in Korea, so I got sick. On the third day, I got "Bongwajik-myelitis." The first time I came to "Bongwajik-myelitis" was when I participated in the "Chinese Hangzhou Asian Games in September 2023." Considering the hardships he suffered in China at that time, I don't know how much I worried about him since late at night here in Indonesia.

I was in so much pain that I was worried that I might return to Korea in the middle. I endured it in Korea by taking antipyretics, antibiotics, and gout pills in advance. The right ankle and intestinal complex are gradually swelling. If there is any more attachment or pain, I have no choice but to enter Korea.

I had no more sobbing from the fourth day, but my legs were very swollen. Later, I couldn't wear shoes, but I stretched my shoelaces as much as I could. I can't even express my pain because of the Indonesian Baseball Association people, players, and parents who only look at me and are interested in my every move.

I had fun with them even if it was a little uncomfortable and difficult because I was worried that the Indonesian "youth baseball academy" that came for the first time would become strange. But strangely enough, once you wear a uniform, you forget the pain of where your strength comes from and you are excited with young players.

As soon as the Indonesian "youth baseball academy" is over, he has to enter Korea and immediately return to Vietnam on July 22nd without resting for a few days and join them for the "4th National Cup Baseball Tournament." However, I came to Korea and became hospitalized whether I was overworking this time or I was tired.

After entering Korea, he was hospitalized for a day, and spent a day struggling with IVs. I had already booked all my flight tickets and hotels to enter Vietnam, so I couldn't rest and wondered what to do with this job.

In order to spread and spread baseball to those in the future, we need to put it down. If we can't put it down, we can't run anymore due to our health. I'm sorry to Mr. Pan and Park Hyo-chul of the Vietnamese Baseball Association, but they decided to take a rest at home this time to run far.

Until now, I have been running so hard without taking care of my health. Now, I have to delay it for a while in order to run further with my health and baseball. And I must not forget that I have better and cooler juniors than I do if not me.

Now, I have to put down my luggage little by little and open the way for my juniors to do it.
