< 야구란 무엇인가? >

며칠전 한권의 책이 소포로 도착했다.

야구에 빠진 변호사의 발랄한 야구이야기라는 부제가 붙은 (야구란 무엇인가?)라는 책이었다.

평생을 야구장에서 지내온 야구인으로서 전혀 다른 분야의 일을 하면서도 깊이 있고 다양한 관점으로 야구를 바라본 비야구인의 책은 챕터마다 소제목도 무척 흥미로웠다.

제1장 사람들은 왜 야구에 열광할까? 부터 시작해서 에러, 심판, 보크 등을 각별한 의미로 해석하고 5장에서는 야구는 감독이 두는 장기가 아니다. 8장 야구는 멘탈 스포츠인가? 마지막장에서는 야구는 과연 단체경기인가? 까지 야구인으로서 생각해 보지 못했던 내용을 다루었다.

저자는 야구를 이렇게 정의했다.
집(Homebase)을 떠나 다시 집으로 돌아오는 스토리 라인도 득특하고, 공을 보유(소유)한 팀이 '수비자'라는 점도 다른 어떤 스포츠에서 볼 수 없는 득특한 구성이며 야구의 '룰' 하나 하나에 결코 가볍지 않은 논리와 철학이 담겨 있다”라고. . . . . .

또 저자는 1구 1구에 따른 모든 플레이가 기록되어 데이터가 형성되고 , 이를 분석하기 위해 높은 수준의 수학과 통계학이 동원되는 야구.

야구는 단 한 차례의 실패도 묵과하지 않는 어쩌면 선수에게 가장 가혹한 스포츠라고도 할 수 있다고 보았다.

마지막으로 저자는 우수한 선수 한 두 명이 승패를 좌우할 수 없는 야구경기야 말로 '기회균등' 이라는 가치가 현실세계에서 구현되는 가장 완벽한 사례이다. '보이지 않는 손'의 결점을 스스로 통제하는 매커니즘을 갖추고 있는 것이다. 적어도 선발 엔트리에 들어간 9명에게는 기회는 동일하게 제공된다.

이를 살리느냐는 선수 본인의 실력과 능력에 달려 있고 적어도 동료선수들이 자기에게 패스를 안해서 경기중 '왕따' 당하는 야구선수는 없다. 야구는 자본주의의 병폐의 근원을 스스로 차단하는 장치를 가지고 있기에 가장 '자본주의적 스포츠'다 라고 마무리 지었다.

무더운 여름이 시원한 실내에서 독서하기 참 좋은 계절이다. 라고 느끼게 해준 흥미로운 책이었다. 야구장 밖에서 야구를 바라보고 싶은 야구인이나 , 야구에 열광하며 야구장을 찾는 수많은 야구팬들 모두에게 권하고 싶은 책이다.

A few days ago, a book arrived by parcel.

It was a book titled (What is baseball?) with the subtitle of a lively baseball story of a lawyer who fell in love with baseball.

As a baseball player who has lived in the baseball field all his life, the book of Villaguin, who looked at baseball from various perspectives while working in a completely different field, was also very interesting in each chapter.

Chapter 1 begins with "Why Are People Crazy about Baseball?" and interprets errors, referees, and bocks in a special sense, and Chapter 5 shows that baseball is not a skill that a coach plays. Chapter 8 deals with things that I have never thought of as a baseball player, until "Is baseball a mental sport?"

The author defined baseball in this way."The fact that the team that owns (owns) the ball is a 'defender' that cannot be seen in any other sport, and that one of baseball's 'rules' contains logic and philosophy that are by no means light."

In addition, the author is a baseball in which all plays according to one ball are recorded and data is formed, and a high level of mathematics and statistics is mobilized to analyze them.

Baseball is perhaps the harshest sport for a player who does not overlook a single failure.

Finally, the author is the most perfect example in which the value of "equal opportunity" is realized in the real world when it is a baseball game in which one or two outstanding players cannot determine victory or defeat. It has a mechanism that controls the flaws of the "invisible hand." At least the nine players who make the starting entry will be given the same opportunity.
