나비의 작은 날갯짓이 날씨 변화를 일으키듯, 미세한 변화나 작은 사건이 추후 예상하지 못한 엄청난 결과로 이어지는 것을 우리는 ‘나비효과’라고 부른다.

라오스에서 시작된 작은 날잿짓이 지금 베트남에서 큰 폭풍을 만들어 내고 있다. 라오스에서 보이지 않는 야구 규칙집을 만들어 낸 것부터 대회 진행까지 많은 이들이 작은 날잿짓을 만들어 내었다. 그 날갯짓의 작은 바람이 베트남에 큰 광풍을 만들어내고 있다.

나는 그 현장에서 그 나비효과가 불러운 세찬 바람을 몸으로 실감했다. 헐크 이만수의 강력한 힘이 아니라 이러한 작은 노력들이 더해져 모든 사람들이 불가능하다고 했던 일들이 실제로 펼쳐지고 있는 것이다.

언젠가 더 강력한 폭풍이 되어 인도차이나 반도에 야구 광풍이 큰 한류의 물줄기로 이어질 것임을 나는 직감한다. 나는 그 자리에서 그들을 돕는 것이 아니라 야구인의 숙명 같은 의무로 그들에게 한국야구와 문화를 그들에게 심어주는 날잿짓을 멈추지 않을 것이다.

나비의 작은 날갯짓이 지금 큰 광풍을 일으키고 있는 것이 베트남 야구다. 처음 2022년 첫 대회를 열때만 해도 어느 누구도 믿지 않았고 베트남 야구대회가 지속적으로 진행 되리라곤 예상하지 않았다. 그렇게 생각했던 것이 시간이 갈수록 베트남 젊은이들뿐만 아니라 베트남 야구협회 그리고 정부에서도 많은 관심을 갖게 되었다.

어제도 글을 썼지만 지난 7월 27일, ‘제4회 대한민국 대사배’가 성공적으로 막을 내렸다. 짧은 4일간의 대회였지만, 그 속에는 수많은 이들의 열정과 헌신, 그리고 드라마 같은 순간들이 켜켜이 쌓여 있었다.

이번 대회는 역대 어느 때보다 매끄럽게 진행됐다. 큰 부상자 없이 전 경기가 마무리되었고, 조경원 단장과 최홍준 부장 역시 “지금껏 열렸던 모든 대회 중 가장 완성도 높았다”고 입을 모았다. 베트남 야구협회 또한 매 대회마다 부족했던 점들을 성실히 보완하며, 아시아 야구의 새로운 가능성을 스스로 증명해 나가고 있었다.

앞에서도 언급했지만 “나비의 작은 날갯짓이 날씨 변화를 일으키듯, 미세한 변화나 작은 사건이 추후 예상하지 못한 엄청난 결과로 이어지는 것을 우리는 직접 현장에서 보았다. 아무도 믿지 않았던 베트남 야구가 짧은 시간에 이렇게 급성장하고 베트남 젊은이들에게 관심을 갖게 되리라곤 전혀 예상하지 못했다. 작은 날갯짓이 이렇게 거대한 ‘나비효과’로 나타나리라곤 누가 예상이나 했겠는가?


“낯선 땅에 작은 씨앗처럼 야구를 심었는데, 이제는 싹이 트고 꽃이 피기 시작했다. 전국대회가 열리고, 이들과 함께 야구를 하다 보니, 아무도 알아주지 않을 것 같던 이 활동이 어느덧 누군가의 꿈이 되고 희망이 되고, 삶의 방향이 되고 있었다.”

야구를 통해, 삶을 바꾸고, 문화를 만들고, 나라와 나라가 연결되는 귀한 도구가 될 수 있어 야구인의 한사람으로서 보람을 느낀다.

Just as a butterfly's small wing flaps cause weather changes, we call it the 'butterfly effect' when minor changes or small events lead to enormous unexpected results in the future.

A small fly that began in Laos is now creating a big storm in Vietnam. From making invisible baseball rulebooks in Laos to the progress of the tournament, many have made small flyers. The small wind of the wings is creating a big frenzy in Vietnam.

I realized with my body the strong wind that the butterfly effect caused at the scene. Not with the strong power of Hulk Lee Man-soo, but with these small efforts, what everyone said was impossible is actually unfolding.

I have a gut feeling that someday it will become a more powerful storm and the baseball frenzy will lead to a big stream of Hallyu on the Indochina Peninsula. I will not help them on the spot, but I will never stop planting Korean baseball and culture in them with the duty of baseball players.

It is Vietnamese baseball that the small flap of the butterfly's wings is now causing a big frenzy. When the first tournament was held in 2022, no one believed it and did not expect the Vietnamese baseball tournament to continue. What I thought was that as time went by, not only Vietnamese young people but also the Vietnamese Baseball Association and the government became more interested.

I wrote yesterday, but on July 27, the 4th Korean Ambassador's Cup ended successfully. It was a short four-day competition, but many people's passion, dedication, and drama-like moments were piled up in it.

The competition was smoother than ever. The entire game was completed without any major injuries, and Cho Kyung-won and Choi Hong-joon also said, "The completion was the highest of all the competitions ever held." The Vietnamese Baseball Association was also faithfully supplementing what was lacking in each competition, proving itself to be a new possibility for Asian baseball.

I never expected that Vietnamese baseball, which no one believed in, would grow so rapidly and become interested in young Vietnamese people in such a short time. Who would have predicted that such a small flap of wings would appear as such a huge "butterfly effect"?"I planted baseball like a small seed in an unfamiliar land, but now it is starting to sprout and bloom. As the national competition was held and I played baseball with them, this activity, which no one seemed to know, was becoming someone's dream, hope, and direction of life."

Through baseball, it can be a valuable tool to change life, create culture, and connect the country to the country, so I feel rewarded as a baseball player.
