< 너희들 이만수 감독 알아 >

미국 PGA US 오픈 골프대회가 끝난지 몇일 되지 않는다. 올해 들어와 사우나 멤버들과 함께 부부모임을 시작한지 벌써 이번이 세번째다. 지난 4월 1일에 모임을 갖고 석달 만에 모임을 갖었다.

이날 모임은 지난 4월 1일에 부부모임을 갖는 자리에서 사우나 멤버들끼리 '사우나컵 골프대회'를 갖자며 약속을 정한 날이다. 나는 현장을 떠나 지난 10년 넘도록 재능기부 하는 바람에 양쪽 어깨가 다 끊어진 상태다. 현장에 있을 때만 해도 아무리 바쁘고 힘든 일이 있어도 가장 먼저 하는 것이 유연성 체조였다.

그런데 현장을 떠나고부터 재능기부 한답시고 몸도 풀지 않은 상태에서 어린선수들에게 볼을 던져주다보니 현장을 떠난지 4년 만에 그만 어깨 근육이 파열이 되고 말았다. 이때부터 골프를 치지 않게 되었다. 지금은 시간이 많이 흘러 만성이 되어 비록 볼은 던지지 못하지만 일상생활하는데는 별 지장이 없게 되었다.

이웃과 함께 지내면서 자연스럽게 이웃과 가깝게 지내게 되고 친구도 많이 사귀게 되었다. 그 중에서도 사우나 멤버들과의 친분은 형제와도 더 가까울 정도로 두텁게 지내고 있다. 지난번에도 글로 썼지만 내가 새롭게 이사하면서 가장 좋아하는 곳이 새벽 6시부터 시작하는 사우나이다.

선수시절과 지도자생활 할 때 매일 사우나하던 습관으로 인해 나이가 들고 현장을 떠나도 옛 습관을 버리지 못하고 날마다 사우나하기 위해 새벽 6시에 내려간다. 사우나가 열리자마자 자연스럽게 일찍 나오는 주민이 있다. 누가 먼저라 할 것도 없이 우리는 늘 같은 시간에 사우나를 하기 때문에 자연스럽게 서로 친구가 된지 벌써 3년이 넘었다.

처음 사우나 삼총사로 시작한 것이 소문이 나고 이 모임을 함께 하고 싶은 주민들이 많아 이제는 7명이 되었다. 이른 아침 6시에 사우나 멤버들이 다 모이면 사우나실이 꽉 찰 정도가 된다. 이제는 누가 먼저라 할 것 없이 자연스럽게 7명이 사우나에서 함께 어울리는 시간을 갖게 되었다. 앞에서도 이야기 했지만 이제 누가 먼저라 할 것 없이 우리는 이렇게 서로 인사를 주고 받으며 야구현장에서 나와 사회에서 이웃으로 좋은 친구가 되었다.

지난 6월 18일 저녁에 사우나 멤버 7명이 모두 한자리에 모여 지나온 인생 이야기와 이날 '사우나컵 골프대회'에 대해 이야기 나누다보니 시간 가는줄 모르고 늦은 저녁시간까지 즐겁고 행복한 시간을 보냈다.

이날 모임의 주최는 김노중 대표님이 자리를 마련했다. 김노중 대표가 좋은 모임을 갖고 있음을 이미 알고 함께 사우나 멤버들과 좋은 모임을 갖고자 8개월 전부터 이야기 했는데 이날 김노중 대표의 주최로 모임을 갖게 되었다.

이날의 주제는 '사우나컵 골프대회' 이야기가 주를 이루었다. 나와 최병기 장로는 골프에 참석하지 못했다. 1차로 고기를 먹고 2차는 다시 자리를 옮겨 순대국 먹으러 갔다. 맛나게 순대국을 먹고 다시 동네 편의점에 모두 모여 3차로 맥주와 과자를 먹으며 밤늦은 시간까지 이야기 나누었다.

동네 편의점에서 7명이 둘러 앉아 재미있게 이야기 나누고 있는데 야구하는 초등학생 두명과 어머님이 편의점에 오셨다. 유니폼 입은 어린학생을 보더니 전영선 대표와 유기호 대표가 대뜸 야구하는 학생들에게 '너희들 이만수 감독 알아?' 물어보니 어린학생들이 '이만수 감독 할아버지요?' 한다. '너무 잘 알고 있어요'라고 하니 전영선 대표와 유기호 대표가 '이분이 바로 이만수 감독'이잖아....

어린학생들과 어머님이 깜짝 놀라며 이야기 한다. 그런데 더 놀라운 사실은 초등학교 3학년과 4학년 학생이 어떻게 '이만수 감독'을 알 수 있느냐?며 사우나 멤버들이 더 신기해 한다. 사우나 멤버들은 나와 함께 하는 것을 너무 자랑스럽게 생각한다며 늘 주위 사람들에게 이야기 한다고 한다.

가끔 사우나 멤버들이 지나가는 사람들이나 유니폼을 입고 있는 어린학생들에게 '너희들 이만수 감독 알아?' 질문할 때면 나의 얼굴이 화끈 거릴 때가 한두번이 아니다. 혹 어린아이들이나 주위 사람들에게 나를 모른다고 하면 얼마나 민망하고 얼굴이 화끈 거리는지 모른다.

이날 늦은 저녁시간에 어린아이들과 엄마가 나를 알아보고 사인과 사진을 찍었지만 사실 민망할 때가 한두번이 아니다. 현장에서 55년 동안 있었지만 이렇게 편안한 마음으로 주민들과 함께 살아가면서 서로 어울리고 함께 어려움과 즐거움을 서로 나눌 수 있으니 얼마나 행복한지 모른다.

It's only been a few days since the PGA U.S. Open golf tournament ended. This is the third time this year that I've already started a marital meeting with sauna members. We had a meeting on April 1st and had a meeting in three months.

The meeting was held on April 1st, when the sauna members made a promise to hold a "Sauna Cup Golf Competition" at the couple's meeting. I left the scene and donated my talent for more than 10 years, so both my shoulders have been cut off. No matter how busy and difficult it was when I was at the scene, the first thing I did was flexibility gymnastics.

However, after leaving the field, he threw balls to young players without warming up to donate his talent, and after four years of leaving the field, his shoulder muscles ruptured. I stopped playing golf from this point on. It has become chronic over time, and although he cannot throw balls, he has no problem in his daily life.

While staying with my neighbors, I naturally became close to them and made many friends. Among them, the friendship with the members of the sauna is close enough to be closer to my brother. I wrote it last time, but my favorite place when I moved new is the sauna that starts at 6 a.m.

Due to the habit of saunas every day during his career as a player and as a leader, he gets older, and even if he leaves the scene, he cannot abandon his old habit and goes down at 6 a.m. every day to have a sauna. As soon as the sauna opens, there are residents who naturally come out early. It has already been more than three years since we became friends with each other because we always have a sauna at the same time, regardless of who comes first.

It is rumored that it first started as a sauna trio, and now there are seven people because there are many residents who want to share this meeting. When all the sauna members gather at 6 a.m. in the early morning, the sauna room is full. Now, it is natural for the seven of us to hang out together in the sauna, regardless of who comes first. As I said before, we came out of the baseball field and became good friends as neighbors in society by exchanging greetings.

On the evening of June 18, all seven sauna members gathered together to talk about their life stories and the "Sauna Cup Golf Tournament" that day, so they had a fun and happy time until late evening without knowing the time.

CEO Kim Roh-joong arranged the meeting to host the meeting. Knowing that CEO Kim Roh-joong already had a good meeting, he had talked about having a good meeting with sauna members for eight months, but he had a meeting hosted by CEO Kim Roh-joong.

The main theme of the day was 'Sauna Cup Golf Tournament'. Elder Choi Byung-ki and I could not attend the golf. After the first round of eating meat, we moved back to eat sundaeguk. After enjoying sundaeguk, everyone gathered at the local convenience store and talked until late at night with beer and snacks.

Seven people were sitting around at the local convenience store and having fun talking, and two elementary school students and their mother came to the convenience store. When I saw a young student wearing a uniform, CEO Jeon Young-sun and CEO Yoo Ki-ho suddenly asked the students playing baseball, "Do you know Coach Lee Man-soo?" and the young students asked, "Is he the grandfather of Coach Lee Man-soo?" When I said, "I know you so well," CEO Jeon Young-sun and CEO Yoo Ki-ho said, "This is director Lee Man-soo."

Young students and their mothers talk in surprise. What's more surprising is that the sauna members are more amazed by how the third and fourth graders of elementary school can know Director Lee Man-soo. The sauna members say they are so proud of being with me and always tell people around them.

Sometimes, when sauna members ask people passing by or young students wearing uniforms, "Do you know director Lee Man-soo?" my face gets hot. If you tell children or people around you that you don't know me, you don't know how embarrassing and angry your face is.

In the late evening of this day, my children and my mother recognized me and took autographs and pictures, but in fact, it is not once or twice embarrassing. I have been at the scene for 55 years, but I am so happy to live with the residents with such a comfortable mind, hang out with each other and share difficulties and joys together.
