<젊은이여, 부흥의 날개를 펴고 비상하라>

‘2025년 은혜의교회 청년 연합 여름수련회’가 지난 8월 13일부터 16일까지 김포수양관에서 열렸다. 이번 수련회는 그동안 네 개 청년부가 따로 진행하던 방식에서 벗어나, 모든 청년이 한자리에 모여 진행된 연합 수련회였다. “2025 부흥의 비상”이라는 주제 아래, 500명이 넘는 청년들이 3박 4일 동안 하나님의 은혜를 깊이 경험했다. 나 역시 그 현장에 함께하며 큰 감동을 받았다.

청년 시절은 인생의 황금기이다. 그 시기에 예수 그리스도를 인격적으로 만나고 신앙의 뿌리를 내리는 경험은 이후 삶 전체를 좌우한다. 그래서 이번 연합 수련회는 단순한 모임이 아니라, 청년들의 미래를 밝히는 소중한 시간이었다.

특별히 수련회를 위해 묵묵히 섬겨주신 권사님과 집사님들의 수고가 큰 감동을 주었다. 500명이 넘는 청년들의 세 끼 식사를 책임지신 분들이 첫날부터 부엌을 지키며 정성껏 음식을 준비하셨다. 그 모습은 단순한 봉사가 아니라 하나의 예배였다. 작년에는 무더운 날씨 속에서도 장로님들과 집사님들이 고기를 굽느라 애쓰셨는데, 올해도 그 사랑과 헌신은 변함이 없었다.

또한 이번 수련회를 이끌어간 주역은 청년들이었다. 모든 프로그램과 시설, 생활의 크고 작은 부분들을 모두 청년들이 직접 기획하고 준비했다. 현장에서 느낀 질서정연함과 은혜가 넘치는 생동감 있는 모습을 보며 이 모든 것들을 청년들이 스스로 만들어냈다는 사실이 놀라웠다. 그 열정과 창의력 속에서 교회의 미래가 보였다.

이 모든 준비와 진행이 가능했던 것은, 오랜 시간 묵묵히 헌신해 온 SL과 ED 리더들, 그리고 보이지 않는 곳에서 수고한 많은 분들 덕분이다. 그들의 섬김이 없었다면 이번 수련회는 결코 성공할 수 없었을 것이다. 한 사람의 헌신이 수많은 영혼을 일으키고 깨운다는 사실을 다시 확인했다.

조유현 장로님은 “은혜의교회가 세워진 이래 청년들을 가르쳐왔는데, 제자였던 청년들이 장성해 집사가 되고, 다시 SL 선생님이 되어 후배들을 가르치는 모습을 보니 감격스럽다”고 말씀하셨다. 세대가 이어지는 신앙의 전통, 그 아름다운 장면을 직접 목도할 수 있어 감사했다.

청년들이여, 이제 날개를 펴고 세상을 향해 날아가라. 실패와 좌절이 있더라도 다시 일어서 달려가라. 나 또한 수많은 실패와 넘어짐을 겪었지만, 성령님이 함께하시기에 여기까지 올 수 있었다. “하나님은 실수가 없으신 분”이라는 확신만 붙든다면 어떤 역경 속에서도 결코 무너지지 않을 것이다.

야구의 3할 타자는 최고의 타자라 불린다. 나머지 7할은 실패이지만, 그 실패가 곧 패배를 의미하지는 않는다. 나 또한 중요한 시기에서 삼진을 당하고 수도 없이 병살타도 쳤다. 그렇다고 해서 내가 실패자가 아니다. 나는 라오스에서 야구 사역을 시작할 때도 같은 확신을 품었다. 처음에는 하루 세 끼 밥을 해결하는 것도 힘들어하던 선수들이었지만, 지금은 꿈과 비전을 품고 당당히 세계 무대에 서고 있다. 불가능해 보였던 일이 현실이 되는 기적을 직접 목격했다. 라오스 야구가 세계 랭킹 85위에서 45위로 도약한 사실은, 믿음과 도전이 만들어낸 결실이다.

지난 10년 동안 많은 사람들의 성원과 사랑으로 동남아 여러 국가 중에서 라오스가 가장 빠르게 야구가 발전되고 있다. 앞으로 인도차이나반도에서 야구중심국가가 되어 이웃나라로 야구를 전파하는 중요한 역할을 하리라 기대하며 나 역시 그 일을 위해 동남아 여러 나라의 야구 발전 현황을 챙겨보고 있는 중이다.

지난 시간들을 되돌아보면 모든 것들이 다 꿈만 같다. 도저히 불가능하고 이룰 수 없을 것이라 생각했던 일들이 정말 거짓말처럼 하나씩 이루어지는 것을 직접 눈으로 확인하고 이들과 함께 했을 때의 감격은 잊을 수가 없다.

삶을 돌아보면, “불가능은 사실이 아니라 의견에 불과하다”는 진리가 늘 확인된다. 세상 사람들은 높은 벽 앞에서 쉽게 포기하지만, 한 발 내딛는 순간 길은 열리기 시작한다. 절대 포기하지 말라. (Never ever give up!) 결국 우리는 생각했던 목표에 도달하게 될 것이다.

지난 주일(17일), 박요한 목사님은 이렇게 말씀하셨다.
“비록 고난이 우리의 인생을 흔들지라도, 고난은 결코 우리의 인생을 결정지을 수 없다. 당신의 미래가 현재를 이끈다.”

청년들이여, 그 미래를 향해 힘차게 달려가라.


                                              <Young man, spread the wings of revival and rise>

The "2025 Grace Church Youth Union Summer Retreat" was held at Gimpo Training Center from August 13 to 16. This retreat was a joint retreat where all the young people gathered in one place, breaking away from the way the four youth departments had been conducting separately. Under the theme of "2025 Revival Emergency," more than 500 young people experienced God's grace deeply for three nights and four days. I was also very moved to be with the scene.

Youth is the golden age of life. The experience of meeting Jesus Christ personally and establishing the roots of faith at that time determines the entire life afterwards. So, this joint retreat was not just a meeting, but a precious time to reveal the future of young people.

In particular, the hard work of the monks and deacons who served silently for the retreat was very impressive. The people in charge of the three meals of more than 500 young people prepared the food carefully, guarding the kitchen from the first day. It was not just service, but a service. Last year, elders and deacons tried to grill meat even in the hot weather, but their love and dedication remained unchanged this year.

Also, it was the young people who led this retreat. All programs, facilities, and large and small parts of life were planned and prepared by young people themselves. It was amazing to see the lively appearance of order and grace that I felt in the field that young people made all of these by themselves. In that passion and creativity, the future of the church was visible.

All of this preparation and progress was possible thanks to SL, ED leaders who have been silently dedicated for a long time, and many people who worked hard out of sight. Without their service, this retreat could never have been successful. It was confirmed again that one person's dedication creates and awakens many souls.

Elder Cho Yoo-hyun said, "I have been teaching young people since the establishment of the Eunhye Church, and I am thrilled to see young people who were disciples grow up to become deacons and become SL teachers again to teach juniors." I was grateful to be able to witness the tradition of faith that continues generations, the beautiful scene.

Now, young men, spread your wings and fly toward the world. Even if there are failures and setbacks, stand up and run again. I also suffered numerous failures and falls, but I was able to come this far because the Holy Spirit was with me. If you are convinced that "God is a man who does not make mistakes," you will never collapse under any adversity.

Baseball's .300 hitters are called the best hitters. The other 70% are failures, but those failures do not mean defeat. I also struck out at important times and hit a double play countless times. That doesn't mean I'm not a failure. When I started my baseball ministry in Laos, I had the same conviction. At first, they had a hard time working out three meals a day, but now they are proudly standing on the world stage with dreams and visions. I have witnessed a miracle in which what seemed impossible becomes a reality. The fact that Laos baseball has jumped from 85th place to 45th place in the world is a result of faith and challenge.

With the support and love of many people over the past decade, Laos is developing the fastest among Southeast Asian countries. In the future, I look forward to becoming a baseball-oriented country in Indochina Peninsula and playing an important role in spreading baseball to neighboring countries, and I am also watching the development of baseball in many Southeast Asian countries for that work.

Looking back on the past, everything is like a dream. I can't forget the emotion when I confirmed with my own eyes that things that I thought would be impossible and impossible to achieve were really done one by one like a lie.

Looking back at life, the truth is always confirmed that "impossible is not true, it is just an opinion." People around the world easily give up in front of high walls, but the road begins to open the moment you take one step forward. (Never give up!) Eventually, we will reach our goal.

Last week (17th), Pastor Park Yo-han said this."Even though hardships shake our lives, they can never determine our lives. Your future leads us to the present."

Run for the future, young men.
