< 3부자가 야구장 갑니다 >

봄꽃의 소식과 함께 야구팬들을 가장 설레게 하는 야구의 계절이 돌아왔다. 드디어 내일 3월 22일 토요일 기다리고 기다리던 프로야구 개막전이 시작이 된다. 긴 겨울 동안 모든 프로야구선수라면 개막에 맞추어 이미 몸을 다 만들어 놓았을 것이다. 22일부터 시작하는 프로야구 한 시즌 팀 당 144경기 총 720경기의 대장정에 돌입한다.

1982년 우리나라에서 처음으로 프로야구가 첫 출범할 때만 해도 '어린이에게 꿈과 희망을'이라는 슬로건을 내걸고 출발했다. 이렇게 출발할 때만 해도 국민들에게 큰 꿈과 희망을 안겨 주었다. 2024년 프로야구가 생긴이래 최초로 관중 1000만명 돌파라는 경이적인 기록을 세웠다.

작년의 열광으로 인해 올해 또한 그 여세를 그대로 밀고 갈 것이라는 것이 나의 생각이다. 대한민국 최고의 인기 스포츠인 야구를 통해 수많은 국민들에게 2024년도는 그야말로 꿈과 희망을 주었던 한해였다. 프런트나 현장 그리고 언론 및 팬들이 함께 한다면 작년에 이어 올해도 거뜬하게 1000만명 돌파 할 것이라 생각이 든다.

이제 22일 토요일부터 2025년 개막전이 각지방에서 펼쳐진다. 프로야구선수라면 이제는 몸을 제대로 만들지 못했다는 핑계는 통하지 않는다. 오로지 선수개인의 성적과 팀의 성적 그리고 수많은 팬들을 위해 각자 자기 위치에서 최고의 플레이를 보여 주어야 한다. 모든 프로야구 선수들이 긴 겨울 동안 잘 준비된 모습으로 운동장에서 최고의 플레이를 팬들에게 보여주길 바란다.

프로야구와 아마추어 야구에도 숨은 훌륭한 선수들이 많이 존재한다. 스스로 자기관리와 통제를 통해 야구에 전념하고 더불어 훌륭한 인성을 가지고 야구장 안팎에서 스포츠맨십의 본보기를 보여주는 많은 선수들이 있다. ‘야구’는 대한민국 국민이 가장 사랑하는 스포츠 중의 하나이다. 그러기에 많은 야구 선수들은 대중들의 관심을 받고 그들의 일거수일투족이 노출되어 언론이나 사람들의 입에 오르내리곤 한다.

야구선수들의 입장을 직접 겪은 나로서 그것이 많은 부담이 되기도 하지만 지극히 당연한 일로 받아들일 수밖에 없음을 인정하지 않을 수 없다. 한 명의 야구선수가 저지르는 불미스러운 사건들이 전체 야구계의 근간을 뒤흔들 수도 있고 대중들에게 심각한 도덕적 해이를 불러올 수도 있다는 것을 생각한다면 야구인의 한 사람으로서 그 책임을 통감할 때가 많다.

이제 모든 야구팬들이 기다리고 겨울 내내 힘든 동계 훈련을 견뎌낸 선수들이 고대하는 2025시즌 프로야구 개막이 22일 토요일로 다가왔다. 작년에 이어 올해도 대한민국 야구의 화려한 부흥을 위해 모든 야구 선수들, 관계자들이 노력해주길 야구인의 한사람으로서 간절히 부탁한다.

많은 선수들은 스스로를 위해. 더 나아가 야구팬들을 위해 철저히 자기관리에 힘쓰고 사회적으로 훌륭한 인격을 갖춘 모범적인 모습을 보여주는 것이 진정한 프로페셔널의 자세일 것이다. 야구장 밖과 야구장 안에서의 모습 모두 프로가 되기를 야구계의 선배로서 간절히 바란다.

올해는 나의 작은 꿈이 하나 있다. 3부자가 함께 야구장 가는 것이다. 큰아들과 손자의 손을 잡고 야구장에 가서 맛난 것도 사먹고 팬들의 응원도 구경하고 그라운드에서 선수들의 활기찬 플레이도 구경하려고 한다.

무엇보다 이제는 선수도 아니고 지도자도 아닌 순수한 야구를 사랑하고 야구를 좋아하는 한 사람의 팬으로서 야구장을 가려고 한다. 이전까지 현장에서 애를 태우며 경기하고 플레이 했다면 이제는 야구를 사랑하는 한사람으로서 편안한 마음으로 승부에 관계 없이 순수한 마음으로 야구 구경을 하려고 한다.

From Saturday, the opening game of 2025 will be held in different regions from now on. As a professional baseball player, the excuse that he or she has not properly built his or her body no longer works. Only for the sake of individual players' performances, the team's performances, and the countless fans should each show the best play in their respective positions. I hope all professional baseball players will show their fans the best play on the field in a well-prepared manner during the long winter.

There are also many great players hidden in professional and amateur baseball. There are many players who are committed to baseball through self-management and control and set an example of sportsmanship both inside and outside the ballpark with great personality. Baseball is one of the most loved sports by the Korean people. That is why many baseball players receive public attention and are exposed to every move, which is often talked about by the media or people.

As I have experienced the position of baseball players firsthand, I have to admit that it is a lot of pressure, but I have to take it for granted. Considering that unsavory incidents committed by a single baseball player can shake the foundation of the entire baseball community and cause serious moral harm to the public, I often feel responsibility as a baseball player.

Now, the opening of the 2025 season professional baseball, which all baseball fans wait for and players who have endured difficult winter training throughout the winter, is coming up on Saturday 22nd. Following last year, I sincerely ask all baseball players and officials to make efforts for the splendid revival of Korean baseball this year as one of the baseball players.

For many players, it would be a true professional's attitude to be thoroughly self-managed and exemplary with a good personality for baseball fans. As a senior baseball player, I desperately want to become a professional both outside and inside the baseball field.

This year, I have a small dream. It is about three rich people going to the ballpark together. I want to go to the ballpark holding hands of my oldest son and grandson, eat delicious food, watch fans' cheer, and watch players' lively play on the ground.

Above all, I am going to the baseball stadium as a fan of a person who loves pure baseball and loves baseball, not as a player or leader. If I used to play and play in the field with anxiety, I now want to watch baseball with a pure heart regardless of the game as a person who loves baseball.
