9월 25일 '하이페밀리' 설립자이신 송길원 목사님이 지난번 '제35회 일가상'에 송길원 목사님이 수상자가 되었다. 일가상은 가나안농군학교 창설자인 고 김용기 선생님이 '이웃과 더불어 사는 공동체 정신'을 기리기 위해 1991년 제정된 상으로 인류와 사회 발전에 기여한 국내외 인물에게 수여하는 권위있는 상이다.

이날 '하이패밀리 비전나이트 행사'에서 송길원 목사님 일가상 수상을 축하하기 위해 행사가 진행되었다. 나도 이날 초대를 받아 인천에서 서울까지 달려갔다. 송길원 목사님과 처음 만난 것은 지금으로부터 30년 전이었다.

삼성라이온즈 선수시절 괌에서 열린 '부부세미나'가 있다는 소식을 듣고 아내와 함께 괌으로 날라가 4박 5일 동안 잊을 수 없는 추억을 갖게 되었다. 평생 운동만 하던 젊은 남편이자 아빠로서 '부부란 무엇인가?' '또 남편은 무엇인가?' 그리고 '아내는 어떻게 해야 하는가?' 주제를 갖고 4박 5일 동안 잊을 수 없는 부부세미나를 가졌다. 솔직히 너무 젊은 나이인 25살 때 결혼해 한 가정의 남편으로서 어떻게 가족을 사랑하고 어떻게 아내와 함께 살아가야 하는지 아무것도 모른체 결혼을 하게 되었다.

4박 5일 동안 얼마나 알찬 시간을 보냈는지 모른다. 평생 야구만 하던 나는 새로운 삶과 인생을 이때 배웠다. 특히 남편으로서 또 한 가정의 아빠로서 자녀들에게 어떻게 해야 함을 많이 배웠다. 이때의 인연으로 인해 30년 동안 친구로 송길원 목사와 좋은 관계를 갖고 있다.

이날 뜻밖의 귀중한 선물을 받았다. 프랑스 파리에 살고 있는 '재불화가 정택영 화백'이 드로잉(Drawing) 그림을 그려서 나에게 선물했다. “드로잉이란 연필, 펜, 붓 등으로 선을 이용해 형태나 이미지를 표현하는 미술 기법을 의미한다.”

이날 정택영 화백이 참석한 분들에게 '드로잉' 그림에 대해 설명했다. '드로잉은 선을 통해 생각과 감정을 시각적으로 표현하는 예술적 행위로 미술의 기본이자 창의적 소통 수단이다'라고 한다.

송길원 목사님이 나에게 전화해 몇장의 사진을 부탁한다고 해 보내 주었더니 정택영 화백이 나의 사진을 보며 그림을 그리기 전에 먼저 나에 대한 구상과 생각 그리고 감정 및 시각적으로 그림을 그렸다고 한다.

정택영 화백은 홍익대학교와 홍익대학원을 졸업하고 1986년 첫 개인전을 시작으로 활동하다가 지난 2006년 프랑스 파리로 이주해 유럽 무대를 중심으로 지금까지 작품활동을 펼쳐 나가고 있다.

정택영 화백의 수상 기록을 보면 너무 화려해 다 적을 수 없을 정도다. 이날 정 화백이 나에게 선물하면서 '감독님이 보내준 사진을 보며 나에 대한 구상과 이미지를 생각하며  그림을 그렸다'고 한다.

'감독님을 보면 굳센 의지와 넓은 관용이 떠올랐다'는 것이다.


      < Strong Will and Broad Tolerance >

On September 25th, Pastor Song Gil-won, founder of ‘Hi Family’, was named the recipient of the 35th Ilga Award. The Ilga Prize, established in 1991 by the late Mr. Kim Yong-gi, founder of the Canaan Farmers' School, to honor the ‘spirit of community living together with neighbors,’ is a prestigious award given to individuals, both domestic and international, who have contributed to the development of humanity and society.

On this day, an event was held at the ‘HiFamily Vision Night’ to celebrate Pastor Song Gil-won's receipt of the Ilga Prize. I was also invited and rushed from Incheon to Seoul for the occasion. My first meeting with Pastor Song Gil-won was 30 years ago.

Back when I was a Samsung Lions player, I heard about a ‘Couples Seminar’ being held in Guam. My wife and I flew there and spent four nights and five days creating unforgettable memories. As a young husband and father who had only ever focused on sports, I attended an unforgettable five-day couples seminar centered on the themes: 'What is a couple?' What is a husband? And how should a wife act?" We spent four nights and five days at an unforgettable marriage seminar centered on these themes. Honestly, I married at the very young age of 25. As the husband of a family, I knew nothing about how to love my family or how to live with my wife when I got married.

I can't express how richly fulfilling those four nights and five days were. Having played baseball my entire life, I learned about a new life and a new way of living during that time. Especially, I learned a great deal about how to be a husband and a father to my children. Because of the connection formed then, I've maintained a good friendship with Pastor Song Gil-won for 30 years.

That day, I received an unexpected, precious gift. Artist Jeong Taek-yeong, who lives in Paris, France, drew a drawing and presented it to me. “Drawing refers to an artistic technique that uses lines created with tools like pencils, pens, or brushes to express form or images.”

That day, Artist Jeong Taek-yeong explained ‘drawing’ to the attendees. He stated, “Drawing is an artistic act that visually expresses thoughts and emotions through lines. It is the foundation of art and a creative means of communication.”

Pastor Song Gil-won called me asking for several photos, which I sent. Artist Jeong Taek-young said that before drawing my portrait, he first conceptualized and thought about me, along with my emotions, and then visually translated that into the drawing.

Artist Jeong Taek-yeong graduated from Hongik University and its graduate school. He began his career with his first solo exhibition in 1986 and moved to Paris, France, in 2006. Since then, he has been actively creating art primarily on the European stage.

Master Jung's list of awards is so extensive it's impossible to list them all. When presenting me with the gift that day, Master Jung said, ‘I painted this while looking at the photos you sent, contemplating my conception and image of you.’

He added, 'Looking at you, Director, I thought of your strong will and broad tolerance.'
