친구야~
올해는 다른 어느해보다 추석연휴가 길구나. 그로인해 많은 사람들이 해외로 지방으로 떠나고 있다. 그리고 오늘부터 한국은 와일드카드 경기로 인해 야구장에서 표를 구하기 위해 발디딜 틈이 없단다.

대한민국 고유의 명절인 추석으로 인해 오늘따라 친구가 많이 보고싶은 날이다. 아무리 많은 세월이 흘러도 여전히 어린아이들과 선수들 그리고 올드팬들까지 친구를 그리워하며 이야기하고 있다.

친구는 대한민국 아마추어와 프로야구 한 시대를 풍자했던 너무나 멋진 나의 친구 최동원이다. 지금도 잊을 수가 없구나. 기나긴 투병생활 중에서도 평생 해온 야구를 잊지 못해 운명할 때까지 야구를 그리워하며 손에서 볼을 놓지 않았던 모습이 지금도 생생하게 기억에 남는다.

아무리 많은 세월이 흘렀어도 친구인 최동원투수의 다이나믹하고 힘있는 투구폼이 생각이 난다. 비록 현장을 떠나 우리 곁을 떠난지 오래 되었지만 친구의 야구사랑과 정신은 영원히 잊을 수 없을 것 같다.

오늘이 대한민국 고유의 명절인 추석이라 그런지 친구가 유난히 보고싶구나.

My friend~
This year's Chuseok holiday is longer than any other year. Because of that, many people are heading overseas or to the provinces. And starting today, Korea is packed to the rafters with people scrambling for tickets at the baseball stadium for the wild card game.

Because of Chuseok, Korea's unique holiday, today is a day when I miss my friend especially much. No matter how many years pass, children, players, and even old fans still talk about missing you.

My friend is Choi Dong-won, my incredibly wonderful friend who defined an era of Korean amateur and professional baseball. I still can't forget him. Even during his long battle with illness, he never forgot the baseball he played his whole life. I vividly remember how he longed for baseball until the end, never letting go of the ball in his hands.

No matter how many years pass, I still recall my friend, pitcher Choi Dong-won's dynamic and powerful pitching form. Though he left the field and departed from our side long ago, my friend's love for baseball and his spirit seem impossible to forget forever.

Perhaps because today is Chuseok, Korea's traditional holiday, I miss my friend especially deeply.
