< 대한민국의 위대한 야구를 그들에게 전한다 >

파키스탄, 스리랑카, 부탄과 유럽의 체코 및 폴란드 마지막으로 아프리카에서 야구를 보급 시켜 달라며 끊임없이 연락이 온다. 요즈음은 싱가폴에서도 야구관련으로 연락이 오고 미얀마는 장용석씨가 내전이 심각한 상태임에도 불구하고 야구를 보급시키기 위해 가족들과 들어가 있다. 정말 마음 같아서는 이들과 함께 야구를 보급, 전파하고 싶은 마음이 굴뚝같다. 몸이 예전같지 않아 지금은 그들과 함께 하지 못해 늘 미안한 마음이다.

가장 미안하고 함께 하지 못하는 라오스 북쪽에 위치하고 있는 루앙프라방에서 홀로 선수들에게 야구를 지도하고 있는 손사랑 감독이다. 정말 마음 같아서는 당장 날아가 손사랑 감독과 함께 열심히 훈련하고 있는 '수파누봉 대학' 선수들과 함께 하고 싶은 심정이나 여러가지 이유로 인해 그들과 함께 하지 못해 진심으로 미안한 마음이다.

작년만 해도 직접 그라운드에서 어린선수들과 함께 몸을 사리지 않고 포수 시범이나 타격 시범을 보였지만 새 봄을 기다리는 지금 부쩍 체력이 예전 같지 않음을 깨닫는다. 혹 너무 무리하다가 다치거나 하면 앞으로 있을 더 큰 일을 할 수 없다는 생각이 들어 언제나 조심한다.

젊었을 때는 하루 24시간도 모자라듯이 세계로 달려갔지만 이제는 체력도 되지 않을 뿐더러 무엇보다 사랑하는 아내와 자식들 그리고 손자한테 미안한 마음도 크다. 지혜를 갖고 남은 인생을 시간과 스케줄을 잘 조절해서 살아가려고 한다. 어떻게 하면 나의 삶이 다 할 때까지 이들에게 조금이나마 내가 갖고 있는 노하우들을 열악하고 환경이 좋지 않은 이들에게 야구를 전파하고 전해 줄 수 있을지 계속 연구하고 또 연구하고 있다.

평생 그라운드에서 몸으로 살아왔던 내가 현장을 떠나 한번도 해보지 않았던 행정은 솔직히 야구보다 몇배나 힘들고 어려웠다. 그럴 때마다 '헐크파운데이션' 스텝진들과 10년 넘도록 난생 처음 해보는 행정도 오랜 세월 함께 하다보니 이제는 나 나름대로 노하우가 생겨 어떻게 단체를 이끌어 가고, 어떻게 조직을 움직이고, 어떻게 해야 정부나 스텝진들과 잘 호흡을 맞추며 멀리 함께 달려갈 수 있는지 배우게 되었다.

내가 동남아로 내려가 야구를 보급하고부터 세계 각지에서 나의 소식을 듣고 도움의 요청들이 많이 온다. 그럴때마다 다 그들의 요구를 들어 줄 수 없어 하나씩 스텝진들과 의논하고 진행한다.

그렇게 시작했던 것이 이번 '인도네시아'였다. 인도네시아 야구와 헐크파운데이션이 함께 협업과 협력을 통해 다시 한번 인도네시아 야구가 옛 영광을 뛰어넘을수 있도록 손을 잡았다. 이번 시작으로 좋은 관계가 오래 지속할 수 있도록 스텝진들이 정말 열심히 달리고 있다.

지금은 혼자 이렇게 달려가지만 언젠가 머지않은 때가되어 내가 없을 때 분명 후배들이 내가 못다한 일들을 그들이 꼭 해 줄 것이라 믿는다. 나는 믿는다. 내가 그들에게 야구만 전하는 것이 아닌 대한민국 문화도 그들에게 함께 전달하고 대한민국이 어떤 나라라는 것을 K-야구를 통해 겸손하고 다정하지만 확실하게 알리려고 한다.

Last year, he showed catcher demonstrations and hitting demonstrations with young players on the ground, but now that he is waiting for the new spring, he realizes that his physical strength is not the same as before. If you get hurt while trying too hard, you can't do bigger things in the future, so you always be careful.
When I was young, I ran to the world like I was less than 24 hours a day, but now I have no physical strength, and above all, I feel sorry for my beloved wife, children, and grandchildren. I try to live the rest of my life with wisdom by controlling my time and schedule. Until my life is over, I am continuing to research and research how I can spread and deliver baseball to those who have a little bit of know-how to them.
The administration I've never done since I've lived on the ground all my life is honestly many times more difficult and difficult than baseball. Whenever that happens, I've been working with the Hulk Foundation staff for a long time, and now I have my own know-how and learn how to lead the group, move the organization, and how to run far with the government or staff members.
After I go down to Southeast Asia and distribute baseball, I hear my news from all over the world and I get a lot of requests for help. Whenever that happens, I can't meet their demands, so I discuss and proceed with the staff one by one.
It was this "Indonesia" that started that way. Indonesian baseball and Hulk Foundation have once again joined hands to help Indonesian baseball overcome its old glory through collaboration and cooperation. From this start, the staff is running really hard so that the good relationship can last a long time.
I'm running alone now, but I believe that someday in the near future, when I'm not there, my juniors will definitely do what I couldn't do. I believe. I want to convey not only baseball to them, but also Korean culture to them and inform them humbly, affectionately, but firmly what kind of country Korea is through K-baseball.
