< 숨은 일꾼 조경원 단장 >

오늘은 한사람을 소개하고자 이른 아침에 펜을 들었다. '헐크파운데이션 스텝진들과 함께 한지도 어느덧 10년이 되었다. 처음 재단을 운영할 때만 해도 모든것들이 열악하고 무엇을 어떻게 해야 할지 모른 상태에서 출발하게 되었다.

처음 헐크파운데이션 재단을 운영할 때만 해도 솔직히 좌충우돌 하며 참 실수도 많이 했던 기억이 난다. 이렇게 시작했던 헐크파운데이션도 스텝진들과 함께 하면서 하나씩 자리를 잡아가게 되었다. 이제는 혼자서 그 많은 일들을 하는 것이 아니라 각자 자기가 맡은 자리에서 최고의 효율을 발휘하며 헐크파운데이션을 이끌어 가고 있다.

이렇게 지난 10년 동안 '헐크파운데이션'을 잘 이끌어 갈 수 있었던 원동력은 조경원 단장의 재단운영과 스텝진들과의 유대관계다. 그리고 여러번 이야기 했지만 헐크파운데이션 스텝진들은 어느 누구하나 월급을 받고 일하는 사람이 없다. 모든 스텝진들이 자기의 재능을 몸소 실천하며 헌신하는 분들이다. 이 세상에서 헐크파운데이션 스텝진들처럼 헌신적이고 사랑이 많은 스텝진들은 없을 것 같다.

이분들의 역할이 없었다면 과연 지난 10년 넘도록 라오스와 베트남 그리고 캄보디아와 곧 있을 인도네시아는 꿈도 꾸지 못했을 것이다. 이들의 헌신으로 인해 어느 재단보다 알차고 세상 사람들에게 기쁨과 즐거움 그리고 꿈과 비전을 전해 줄 수 있었던 것이다.

이렇게 '헐크파운데이션'이 알차고 조직적으로 잘 돌아가고 지금까지 순조롭게 운영할 수 있었던 것도 조경원 단장이 항상 앞장서서 스텝진들을 이끌어 가고 또 모든 행정을 잘 운영했기 때문에 가능했다. 물론 지금까지 수많은 일들이 있었지만 지난 2024년 12월까지 쌓여만 갔던 수많은 물품들이 결국 한해를 보내기 전에 모두 라오스 루앙프라방으로 다 보낼 수 있었던 것도 헐크파운데이션 조경원 단장이 동분서주하며 뛰어 다녔기 때문에 가능했다.

지난해 8개월 동안 부산 대형 창고에 수많은 물품들과 야구 도구들이 쌓여만 갔지만 어떻게 할 방법이 없어 장마철마다 고군분투했던 조경원 단장을 생각하노라면 진심으로 그에게 감사의 인사를 전하고 싶다. 헐크파운데이션 조경원 단장이 아니었다면 엄청난 양의 물품과 야구 도구들이 동남아로 보내지 못하고 다 버려만 했다.

물류비의 부담으로 인해 결국 몇달간 부산에 있는 대형 창고에 쌓아두기만 했다. 이 모든 부담은 고스란히 헐크파운데이션 조경원 단장이 책임졌다. 알뜰한 조경원 단장이 지인분들과 친구들의 도움으로 인해 저렴한 가격으로 먼저 그 많은 야구 도구와 신발들을 라오스 루앙프라방으로 보냈다. 개인 사비는 물론이고 조경원 단장이 다니는 교회 담임목사님과 성도들 그리고 조경원 단장 아내의 헌신과 사랑이 없었다면 가능하지 않았던 일이다.

어느덧 인도차이나반도에 야구를 전파한지 벌써 10년이 훌쩍 넘었다. 지난 시간들을 되돌아 보면 보람된 일도 많았지만 때론 혼자서는 도저히 감당할 수 없었던 일들도 있었고, 그때마다 도움의 손길들과 헐크파운데이션이 끝까지 잘 운영 될 수 있도록 자기 일처럼 뛰어다닌 조경원 단장이 있었기 때문에 여기까지 달려올 수 있었다.

스텝진들의 노고와 도움이 없이는 헐크파운데이션 재단을 혼자서 절대 이끌어 갈 수 없다. 특히 '헐크파운데이션' 조경원 단장에게 야구인의 한사람으로서 진심으로 감사와 감사의 인사를 드린다.

Honestly, when I first ran the Hulk Foundation, I remember making a lot of mistakes. The Hulk Foundation, which started like this, was also settled down one by one with the staff members. Now, they are not doing many things alone, but they are leading the Hulk Foundation with the highest efficiency in their positions.

The driving force behind the good leadership of the Hulk Foundation for the past 10 years is the operation of the foundation and the relationship with the staff members of the Hulk Foundation. And even though I have talked about it many times, none of the Hulk Foundation staff members work for a salary. All the staff members are devoted to their talents by practicing themselves. I don't think there are any staff members who are as devoted and loving as the Hulk Foundation staff members in the world.

Without their role, they would not have dreamed of Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and upcoming Indonesia over the past decade. Because of their dedication, they were more valuable than any other foundation and were able to deliver joy, joy, and dreams and visions to the people of the world.

The fact that "Hulk Foundation" worked well and systematically like this so far was possible because Cho Kyung-won always took the lead in leading the staff and ran all the administration well. Of course, there have been many things happening so far, but it was also possible because Cho Kyung-won, the head of the Hulk Foundation, ran around in a hurry before the year ended, and was able to send all the items that had been piled up until December 2024.

Considering Cho Kyung-won, the general manager who struggled every rainy season because there was no way to do it, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to him. If it wasn't for the head of the Hulk Foundation Cho Kyung-won, a huge amount of items and baseball tools could not be sent to Southeast Asia and had to throw them away.

Due to the burden of logistics costs, it was eventually piled up in a large warehouse in Busan for several months. The Hulk Foundation's general manager, Cho Kyung-won, was responsible for all these burdens. With the help of acquaintances and friends, the thrifty general manager, Cho Kyung-won, first sent many of the baseball tools and shoes to Luang Prabang in Laos at a low price. It would not have been possible without the dedication and love of the pastor, the saints, and the wife of the general manager Cho Kyung-won.

It's already been over 10 years since baseball was spread to Indochina Peninsula. Looking back on the past, there were many rewarding things, but sometimes there were things I couldn't handle on my own, and each time, I was able to run this far because I had a helping hand and a head of Cho Kyung-won who ran around like his job so that the Hulk Foundation could run well until the end.

Without the hard work and help of the staff, you can never lead the Hulk Foundation alone. In particular, I would like to express my sincere gratitude and gratitude to the head of the Hulk Foundation, Cho Kyung-won, as a baseball player.
