지난 5월 30일 '제 3회 이만수배 발달장애인 티볼대회'가 진행하기 전에 작년에 이어 올해도 아나운서가 방송에다가 '이만수 명예회장님이 타격시범이 있겠습니다'라며 방송한다. 이날도 마음만 청춘이라 아무 준비도 없이 선수들과 임원 그리고 학부형들과 스텝진들이 보는 가운데 타격시범을 보였다.

이날도 김재목 회장님과 스텝진들이 “ 이만수감독님이 타격시범을 보여 줄 것입니다 “하며 소리 높여 이야기 하니깐 누가 먼저라 할 것 없이 모든 선수들과 학부형 그리고 스텝진들이 소리를 지르면서 환호성을 지른다.


나는 평생 한길만 달려온 야구인이라 날씨가 아무리 더워도 야구복만 입으면 땀나는 것조차 신나던 야구인이다. 아주 오랫만에 쳐 본 홈런의 손맛이 얼마나 좋은지 잠깐이나마 현역시절로 돌아간 듯한 기분이다. 할아버지가 되었지만 나는 야구할 때가 가장 즐겁고 행복하다.

I am a baseball player who has run for only one road in my life, so no matter how hot the weather is, I am a baseball player who was excited to sweat in a baseball uniform. It feels like I went back to my active days for a moment to see how good the home run tastes after a long time. Although I became a grandfather, I am most excited and happy when I play baseball.
