< 홈런 타자 이만수 >

지난달 5월 23일 리커버리 야구단 훈련에 이어 이번 달에도 6월 27일 양주에서 훈련한다는 소식을 듣고 이른 시간에 양주로 달려갔다. 지난번에도 이야기 했듯이 인천에서 양주로 가기 위해서는 이른 새벽에 일어나 출발해야 한다.

지난번에 이어 오늘도 선수들과 함께 W - UP 부터 시작해 다 따라했다. 오늘도 한상훈 감독이 앞에 나서서 체조부터 시작해 달리기까지 함께 하면서 선수들을 지도한다. 한 감독을 보면서 느끼는 것은 언제나 선수들 눈 높이에 맞추어 훈련시키고 있다. 무엇보다 한상훈 감독이 앞에 나서서 재미있게 훈련시키니 리커버리 선수들이 신이나서 잘 따라한다.

이날도 느꼈지만 젊은 청춘을 바치고 누볐던 야구장에서 비록 칠순을 바라보는 나이지만 젊은 선수들과 함께 할 수 있다는 것만 해도 나는 행복하다. 오늘도 선수들이 달리고 던지고 받고 마지막으로 타격하는 시간을 가졌다.

모든 선수들이 타격하는 것을 멀리서 지켜 보며 나도 한번 타격하고 싶은 충동이 생겨 마지막에 권혁돈 감독에게 부탁하고 한상훈 감독이 던져 주었다. 타석에 서서 타격하는데 갑자기 권혁돈 감독이 선수들에게 '홈런 타자 이만수가 시범을 보여주겠습니다' 하니 선수들이 함성을 지르며 야단이 났다.

타격할 때만 해도 다 홈런 칠 것 같은 마음이지만 막상 타격하니깐 펜스 앞에만 가고 홈런이 되지 않았다. 그래도 선수들이 함성을 지르며 얼마나 좋아하는지 모른다. 비록 홈런은 되지 않았지만 칠순을 바라보는 나이에 아직도 펜스까지 타구를 보낼 수 있다는 것에 만족하며 감사할 뿐이다.

오늘 타격하면서 나의 젊은 청춘이 그립지만 칠순을 바라보는 나이에 여전히 마음만 앞서고 있다. 권혁돈 감독이 언제 동영상으로 나의 타격하는 모습을 찍었는지 멋진 영상을 선물한다며 보내 주었다. 집에 돌아와 권혁돈 감독이 찍은 영상을 몇번이나 돌려 보았는지 모른다. 앞으로 힘든 일이 있거나 어려운 일이 있을 때마다 오늘 타격한 영상을 돌려보며 나의 마음을 위로할 것 같다.

지금도 선수들이 뒤에서 이만수 ~ 이만수 ~ 하며 함성을 지른다.

(오늘 나의 타격하는 장면을 여러번 돌려보며 현역선수였다면 영상을 보며 타격에 대해 분석 할텐데 은퇴한 사람이라 그럴 필요가 없구나. 그러나 비록 현장에 있지 않지만 몇가지 야구인으로서 이만수 선수의 타격을 보며 분석해 본다.)

1. 스윙이 느리다.
2. 상체로만 타격한다.
3. 하체를 전혀 사용하지 못한다.
4. 뱃이 조금 둘러나온다.

장점에 대해서도 몇가지 이야기하고 싶다.

1. 스윙 좋다.
2. 리듬이 좋다.
3. 칠순이 되었지만 여전히 맞는 순간과 포인트가 좋다.
4. 팔로우 스윙이 좋다.

I felt it on this day, but I am happy just to be able to be with young players even though I am at the age of 70, at the baseball stadium where I spent my youth. Players ran, threw, and had the last time to hit.

Watching all the players hit from a distance, I had the urge to hit once, so I asked Kwon Hyuk-don at the end and Han Sang-hoon threw it. While standing at the batter's box and hitting, suddenly manager Kwon Hyuk-don told the players, "Homer hitter Lee Man-soo will demonstrate," and the players shouted and were scolded.

When I hit a ball, I felt like I would hit a home run, but when I hit the ball, I ended up in front of the fence and didn't hit a home run. Still, I don't know how much the players love it. Although I didn't hit a home run, I'm just satisfied and thankful that I can still send a ball to the fence at the age of 70.

I miss my young youth while batting today, but I am still ahead of my mind at the age of 70. Coach Kwon Hyuk-don sent me a wonderful video of when he filmed me hitting with a video clip." I don't know how many times I watched the video taken by coach Kwon Hyuk-don when I came back home. Whenever I have a hard time or a hard time in the future, I think I will comfort my heart by watching the video I hit today.
