<잠실야구장을 찾은 베트남 야구대표팀>

7월 3일 오늘도 베트남 대표팀 선수들과 이른 시간에 운동장에 나가 연세대 선수들과 합동훈련 했다. 어제 2일 HBC 팀 선수들과 게임 했는데 점수차가 너무 많이 나 베트남 선수들이 낙심이 크다. 이것을 잘 알고 있는 박효철 감독이 선수들을 모아놓고 밤 11시까지 이날 경기를 놓고 서로 토론했다.

어제도 글을 썼지만 한국에 들어올 때만 해도 자기 나름대로 제일 잘 한다고 자부심을 갖고 있었는데 어린선수들과 경기를 통해 엄청난 점수차로 져서 베트남 야구국가대표 선수들이 사기가 급격히 떨어졌다. 그렇지만 나는 베트남 선수들이 한국팀들과의 친선경기가 없었더라면 절대 배울 수 없는 엄청난 것들을 습득했다고 생각한다.

그것이 오늘 연세대 선수들과 함께 훈련하면서 자세부터 확 달라졌다. HBC 선수들과 경기하기 전까지만 해도 거만하고 박효철 감독의 말을 잘 듣지 않던 선수들이 어제 경기하고부터 박효철 감독의 말이 떨어지게 무섭게 따라하는 것이다.

연세대 선수들과 모든 훈련을 다 끝내고 가까운 곳에서 점심하고 호텔에 들어와 잠시 쉬었다가 곧바로 잠실 야구장으로 출발했다. 이날 두산 팀과 삼성라이온즈 팀과의 경기가 오후 6시 30분에 열리는 날이다. 이날 경기에 앞서 오후 4시 30분부터 삼성라이온즈 팀의 훈련을 직접 참관하는 소중한 체험은 이들에게 영원히 잊을 수 없는 추억이 되었을 것이다.

이날 두산 베어스 팀의 배려로 베트남 국가대표 선수들이 두산 팀과 삼성라이온즈 팀의 훈련하는 장면을 가장 가까운 곳에서 구경할 수 있는 특혜를 받았다. 이번에 베트남 야구대표팀의 한국 방문은 문체부와 대한 체육회, 그리고 대한야구소프트볼협회의 초청으로 이뤄졌으며, 앞으로 있을 '동남아 시게임'을 대비한 훈련을 위해 9박 10일의 일정으로 한국에 들어왔다.

이번에 베트남 선수들에게 한국 미니캠프에 오게 되면 가장 원하는 것이 무엇인지 베트남 야구대표팀 선수들에게 앙케이트 조사한 결과 한국프로야구 관람이 단연 압도적인 답이었다. 이들 베트남 선수들도 SNS를 통해 보았던 한국프로야구의 박진감 넘치는 현장과 다양한 먹거리를 나누고 하나의 문화가 된 야구 응원을 많은 관중과 함께 해 보는 경험을 간절히 원했던 것이다. 오늘 꿈의 구장을 찾아 한국프로야구 선수들의 퍼포먼스를 직접 눈으로 보고 경험하는 것이야 말로 이들에게는 평생 잊지 못할 추억이 되었을 것이다.

대한민국 대표적인 잠실야구장을 본 베트남 선수들이나 미스터 판 회장 그리고 하잉 사무총장까지 거대한 야구장을 보며 입을 다물지 못한다. 말로만 듣고 인터넷으로만 보았던 잠실야구장을 선수들이 직접 그라운드로 나가 관전하는 이들의 설레이는 마음은 영원히 잊을 수 없을 것이다.

화려하고 멋진 덕아웃을 보던 선수들이 삼삼오오 짝을 지어 사진을 찍고 '브리' 숫자를 하며 환하게 웃는다. 이들 베트남 선수들에게 새로운 꿈을 품었을 것이다. 덕아웃과 그라운드를 직접 나가서 밟아 본 선수들은 관중석으로 올라갈 생각을 하지 않았다.

경기하기까지 많은 시간이 남아 베트남 선수들이 야구 용품점에 가서 야구복이나 악세사리 그리고 케릭터와 기념품들을 사고 싶다며 가자는 것이다. 베트남에는 아직 야구 용품점이 없어 선수들이 야구에 관련된 것들을 사고 싶어도 살 수가 없다고 한다. 대한민국 각 구단마다 멋진 케릭터와 기념품들은 이들에게 환상적인 상품이 아닐 수 없다.

선수들이 멋진 케릭터와 야구에 관련된 상품들을 살 동안 나는 두산 베어스 팀의 조성환 감독을 만났고 다시 삼성라이온즈 팀에 가서 박진만 감독을 만났다. 올해 몇번이고 야구장에 가고 싶었지만 재능기부와 해외로 많이 다니다보니 이제서야 야구장에 왔다. 나의 젊은 청춘을 받쳤던 야구장이라 들어설 때부터 마음이 많이 설레었다.

대구상고와 한양대학교 그리고 삼성라이온즈 선수시절까지 함께 했던 김용국 후배를 야구장에서 만났다. 잠실야구장에서 김용국 후배를 만날 것이라곤 전혀 예상하지 못했는데 김용국 후배가 대구 TBC 드림FM 야구 해설위원으로 있어 한시즌 144게임 모두 중계하기 위해 선수들과 똑 같이 전국으로 다닌다고 한다.

이날도 삼성라이온즈 팀과 두산 베어스 팀과의 경기를 위해 서울 잠실야구장에 올라왔다. 이날 TBC 드림FM 김대진 아나운서와 해설위원인 김용국 후배와 함께 1회부터 3회까지 중계했다.

난생 야구장에 처음 온 베트남 야구국가대표 선수들이 음악에 맞추어 신나게 춤을 추며 응원하는 모습이 너무 신기할 뿐이다. 이들은 분명 한국 말을 제대로 알아 듣지 못할 것이다. 그러나 수많은 관중들이 하나가 되어 춤을 추고 음악에 맞추어 몸을 흔들 때에는 베트남 선수들이 아니라 함께 어울리는 야구 팬들이었다.

베트남 야구대표팀 선수들이나 임원들에게 잠실야구장에서의 경기관람은 결코 잊지 못할 인생추억이 될 것이다. 지금도 이들의 흥분된 목소리가 내 귀에 메아리 치는 듯 하다.

                                                        <Vietnam National Baseball Team Visits Jamsil Baseball Stadium>

On July 3, the Vietnamese national team had a joint training session with Yonsei University players at an early hour on the field. The Vietnamese players are disappointed because they played a game with the HBC team players on Sunday but there was too much difference in scores. Coach Park Hyo-cheol, who is well aware of this, gathered the players and discussed with each other about the game until 11 p.m.

I wrote yesterday, but when I entered Korea, I was proud that I was the best player in my own way, but I lost by a huge margin through games with young players, and Vietnamese national baseball players' morale dropped sharply. But I think Vietnamese players have learned a lot of things that they would never learn without friendly matches with Korean teams.

This has changed dramatically in the training session with Yonsei University players today. The players, who were arrogant and did not listen to Park Hyo-chul well until the game with HBC players, are imitating him as soon as they started talking.

After finishing all training with Yonsei University players, I had lunch nearby, came into the hotel, rested for a while, and immediately departed for Jamsil Baseball Stadium. The game between the Doosan Bears and the Samsung Lions will be held at 6:30 p.m. on the day. The precious experience of watching the Samsung Lions' training from 4:30 p.m. on the day must have been an unforgettable memory for them.

With the consideration of the Doosan Bears team, Vietnamese national team players were given the privilege of watching the training of Doosan and Samsung Lions teams from the closest distance. The Vietnamese national baseball team's visit to Korea took place at the invitation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Baseball Softball Association, and entered Korea for nine nights and 10 days for training in preparation for the upcoming Southeast Asian Shigame.

According to a survey of Vietnamese baseball team players on what they want most when they come to the Korean minicamp, watching Korean professional baseball was by far the overwhelming answer. These Vietnamese players also desperately wanted the experience of sharing various foods and cheering for baseball, which became a culture, with many spectators, with the exciting scene of Korean professional baseball that they saw through SNS. Visiting the dream stadium today and seeing and experiencing the performances of Korean professional baseball players with their own eyes would have been an unforgettable memory for them.

Vietnamese players who have seen Korea's representative Jamsil Baseball Stadium, Chairman Mr. Pan and Secretary-General Hing cannot keep their mouth shut while watching the huge baseball stadium. The excitement of players going to the ground and watching Jamsil Baseball Stadium, which they have only heard about and seen on the Internet, will never be forgotten.

Players who were watching the spectacular and spectacular dugout laugh brightly while taking pictures in pairs and saying "brie" numbers. They must have had new dreams for these Vietnamese players. Players who had stepped on the dugout and the ground in person did not think about going up to the stands.
There is a lot of time left before the game, so Vietnamese players want to go to the baseball equipment store and buy baseball uniforms, accessories, characters, and souvenirs. There are no baseball equipment stores in Vietnam yet, so players cannot buy baseball-related things even if they want to. For each Korean club, wonderful characters and souvenirs are fantastic products for them.

While the players were buying cool characters and baseball-related products, I met Doosan Bears coach Cho Sung-hwan and went back to the Samsung Lions team and met Park Jin-man. I wanted to go to the ballpark again and again this year, but after donating my talents and going abroad a lot, I finally came to the ballpark. It was a baseball stadium that supported my young youth, so I was very excited from the moment I entered.

I met Kim Yong-guk, a junior who had been with Daegu Sang High School, Hanyang University, and Samsung Lions players, at the ballpark. I never expected to meet Kim Yong-guk at Jamsil Baseball Stadium, but Kim Yong-guk, a junior, is a baseball commentator for Daegu TBC DreamFM, so he travels all over the country with the players to broadcast all 144 games in a season.

On the same day, he came to Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul to play against the Samsung Lions and the Doosan Bears. The games were broadcasted from the 1st to the 3rd episodes with TBC Dream FM announcer Kim Dae-jin and commentator Kim Yong-guk.

It is just amazing to see the Vietnamese national baseball team players who are new to the ballpark dancing and cheering to the music. They will certainly not understand Korean properly. However, when many spectators danced as one and shook themselves to the music, they were not Vietnamese players, but baseball fans who hung out together.

Watching games at Jamsil Baseball Stadium will be an unforgettable memory for Vietnamese baseball team players and executives. Even now, their excited voices seem to echo in my ears.
