< 야구 사랑 미스터 판 회장 >

베트남 야구국가대표 선수들이 한국에 들어온지 어느덧 4일이 되었다. 한국에 들어온지 이틀째 HBC 팀과의 경기를 통해 베트남 야구국가대표 선수들 자신들의 기량이 어느 정도인지 이번에 철저하게 깨닫게 되었다.

오늘(4일) 연세대 야구장에서 두번째 경기를 했다. 이날 상대 팀은 '원당중학교' 야구부와 게임을 했다. 한국에서 첫 게임 할 때 HBC 팀과의 경기에서 엄청난 점수차로 지는 바람에 베트남 야구국가대표 선수들이 많이 상처를 받았다.

베트남 선수들이 첫게임에서 그것도 어린선수들에게 엄청난 점수차로 지는 바람에 자존심이 완전히 구겨졌다. 지난번에도 글을 썼지만 HBC 팀에게 지는 바람에 이들의 자세가 180도 달라졌다. 한국에 들어온지 4일 밖에 되지 않았는데 베트남 선수들의 기량이 일취월장하는 놀라운 성과를 거둔 것을 오늘 경기를 통해 보게 되었다. 단 3일 밖에 지나지 않았는데 어떻게 되었기에 베트남 선수들의 자세와 기량이 이렇게 급성장 할 수 있었는지.....

2일 HBC 팀과의 경기 그리고 어제 3일 베트남 국가대표 선수들이 한국프로야구를 직접 잠실야구장에 가서 볼 수 있었고 그들의 화려한 플레이를 보았던 것이 베트남 선수들에게 큰 자극제가 되었다. 이틀전에도 글을 썼지만 경험이 적은 이들에게 직접 보고, 듣고, 해보는 것만큼 좋은 교육은 없다.

지난 7월 1일 열흘 간의 일정으로 한국을 찾은 베트남 야구국가대표 팀은 고양시에 캠프를 차리고 돌아오는 12월에 있을 '시 게임'을 위해 철저하게 준비하고 강한 훈련을 날마다 하고 있다. 박효철 감독의 야구에 대한 열정을 이들 베트남 선수들이 제대로 소화하지 못할 때가 있다.

베트남 선수들은 연세대 야구 선수들과 함께하는 합동 훈련은 이들에게 값진 경험이 되기에 충분했다. 훈련하는 도중에도 연세대 야구 선수들이 이들을 관찰하면서 조언을 아끼지 않는다.

베트남 야구국가대표 팀이 한국에 들어온지 4일 밖에 되지 않았지만 지난 4일 동안 베트남 야구협회 판 회장은 단 한번도 자리를 뜨지 않고 베트남 야구선수들과 함께 활동하고 있다.

미스터 판 회장을 보면 야구에 올인할 정도로 대단한 열정을 갖고 있다. 판 회장은 가끔 일본프로야구도 직접 구경할 정도로 야구에 대한 많은 관심을 갖고 있다. 특히 미스터 판 회장이 한국에 들어오면 저녁에는 외출도 하지 않고 꼭 호텔 방에서 한국프로야구 중계를 챙겨 본다고 한다. 한국에 들어오고부터 계속 저녁마다 한국프로야구를 지켜보고 있다며 오늘도 이야기 한다. 이번에 미스터 판 회장이 베트남 야구협회 회장직을 또한번 연임하게 되었다. 사회주의 나라인 베트남에서 다시 연임할 정도의 실력이라면 보통 대단한 사람이 아니다.

무엇보다 박효철 감독에게 많은 관심을 갖고 있고 또 대한민국에 대한 많은 호감을 갖고 있기에 앞으로 베트남 야구협회와 좋은 관계를 유지한다면 멀지 않아 나라와 나라끼리 야구를 통해 좋은 외교관계를 유지하리라 믿는다.

어려운 상황 속에 베트남 야구 발전을 위해 달려가고 있는 박효철 감독에게 주위에서 조금이라도 도움을 주고자 많은 노력을 하고 있다. 그 중에서도 '헐크파운데이션' 스텝진들의 헌신은 솔직히 눈물겹도록 고맙다. 이런 선한 기부를 통해 지난 10년 동안 라오스 야구를 지탱할 수 있었고, 이제 시작되고 있는 베트남 야구 발전에도 큰 도움이 되고 있다.

돌이켜보면 어떠한 친분도 없는 많은 이들이 선한 기부를 통해 쉽게 외면할 수도 있는 이역만리 라오스와 베트남 그리고 캄보디아와 곧 있을 인도네시아 야구에 많은 관심을 보여주고 있다. 또한 야구 후배들과 지인들 그리고 친구들의 야구 사랑과 실천, 헌신 덕분에 지금까지 달려올 수 있었다. 이들의 감사함을 잊지 않기 위해서라도 야구의 불모지 동남아시아 야구를 향해 끝까지 달려 가려고 한다.

나는 다시 내일(6일) '헐크파운데이션' 스텝진들과 함께 인도네시아로 들어간다. 지난번에도 글을 썼지만 인도네시아 야구협회와 협업하여 조금이라도 이들에게 야구를 통해 대한민국의 위대한 야구를 전수할 수 있다면 우리 스텝진들은 언제라도 이들과 함께 하려고 한다.

마음 같아서는 베트남 야구국가대표 팀 선수들과 베트남에 들어가기까지 함께 하려고 했지만 인도네시아 야구협회와 오래전에 미리 약속을 정한 상태이기 때문에 이번에 어쩔 수 없이 6일 인도네시아로 들어가야 한다.

오늘(4일) '원당중학교' 야구 팀과의 경기를 마치고 곧바로 '헐크파운데이션' 스텝진들과 베트남 야구협회 미스터 판 회장과 하잉 사무총장 그리고 박효철 감독과 함께 대한민국의 유명한 한식집에서 저녁을 함께 하며 재미있고 유쾌한 분위기 속에서 많은 대화를 나누었다.

다른 어느날 보다 오늘 '원당중학교' 팀과의 경기를 통해 베트남 야구협회 미스터 판과 사무총장인 하잉 씨의 맑은 모습을 볼 수 있었다. 왜냐하면 첫 게임인 HBC 팀과의 경기를 쭉 지켜보며 근심어린 모습을 지을 수가 없었다. 이랬던 미스터 판 회장이 오늘 경기를 통해 베트남 선수들의 움직임이나 플레이를 보며 새로운 희망을 갖게 되었음을 볼 수 있었다.

돌아오는 7월 22일부터 28일까지 호치민에서 시작하는 '제 4회 내셔널컵 야구대회'에 꼭 다시 만나자며 약속을 다짐했다. 베트남에서 '내셔널컵 야구대회'가 열리기까지 미스터 판 회장의 열정이 없었다면 이 대회는 열리지 않았을 것이다.

It has already been four days since the Vietnamese national baseball players entered Korea. Through the game against the HBC team on the second day after entering Korea, I thoroughly realized how good the Vietnamese national baseball players were this time.

The team played its second game at Yonsei University Baseball Stadium today (April 4). On the day, the opposing team played a game against the "Wondang Middle School" baseball team. In the first game in Korea, players of the Vietnamese national baseball team were hurt a lot as they lost to the HBC team by a huge margin.

The Vietnamese players lost the first game by a huge margin to young players, which completely crumpled their pride. I wrote last time, but their posture changed 180 degrees because they lost to the HBC team. It's only been four days since I entered Korea, and I saw through today's game that the Vietnamese players' skills have improved dramatically. It's only been three days, so how did the Vietnamese players' posture and skills grow so fast...

The game against the HBC team on the 2nd and the Vietnamese national team on the 3rd yesterday were able to see the Korean professional baseball in person at Jamsil Baseball Stadium and their spectacular play was a great stimulus to Vietnamese players. I wrote two days ago, but there is no better education than seeing, listening, and trying in person for those with little experience.

The Vietnamese national baseball team, which visited Korea on July 1 for a 10-day visit, has set up camp in Goyang City and is thoroughly preparing and training hard for the "poetry game" in December. There are times when these Vietnamese players do not properly digest Park Hyo-chul's passion for baseball.

Vietnamese players said, "The joint training with Yonsei University baseball players was a valuable experience for them. Even during the training, Yonsei University baseball players observe them and give advice.

It has only been four days since the Vietnamese national baseball team entered Korea, but for the past four days, Vietnamese Baseball Association President Pan has never left and has been working with Vietnamese baseball players.

If you look at Chairman Mr. Pan, he has great passion to go all-in to baseball. Chairman Pan is so interested in baseball that he sometimes watches Japanese professional baseball in person. In particular, when Chairman Mr. Pan enters Korea, he does not even go out in the evening and always watches Korean professional baseball broadcasts in his hotel room. I have been watching Korean professional baseball every evening since I came to Korea, and I am telling him again today. This time, Chairman Mr. Pan has been reappointed as the president of the Vietnamese Baseball Association. If you are good enough to serve a second term in Vietnam, a socialist country, you are not usually a great person.

Above all, he is very interested in coach Park Hyo-chul and has a lot of affection for the Republic of Korea, so I believe that if we maintain good relations with the Vietnamese Baseball Association in the future, we will maintain good diplomatic relations between the country and the country through baseball.

We are making great efforts to give even a little help to manager Park Hyo-chul, who is running for the development of Vietnamese baseball in a difficult situation. Among them, I am honestly tearfully grateful for the dedication of the Hulk Foundation staff. Through such good donations, we have been able to support Laos baseball over the past decade, and it is also a great help to the development of Vietnamese baseball, which is just beginning.

Looking back, many people with no friendship are showing a lot of interest in upcoming Indonesian baseball with Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia, which can be easily turned away through good donations. In addition, I have been able to run to this point thanks to the love, practice, and dedication of baseball by my juniors, acquaintances, and friends. In order not to forget their gratitude, I am trying to run to the end toward Southeast Asian baseball, the barren land of baseball.

I will go back to Indonesia tomorrow (6th) with the Hulk Foundation staff. As I wrote last time, if I can collaborate with the Indonesian Baseball Association to teach them the great Korean baseball through baseball, our staff members will always join them.

In my mind, I tried to join the Vietnamese national baseball team players in Vietnam, but I had to enter Indonesia on the 6th because I had made an appointment with the Indonesian Baseball Association long ago.

Immediately after the game against the 'Wondang Middle School' baseball team today (4th), we had a lot of conversations with the staff of the 'Hulk Foundation', Mr. Pan, Chairman of the Vietnamese Baseball Association, Mr. Hing, Secretary-General, and Director Park Hyo-chul at a famous Korean restaurant in Korea.

Today, more than any other day, I was able to see Mr. Pan of the Vietnamese Baseball Association and Mr. Hing, secretary-general, through the match against the "Wondang Middle School" team. Because I couldn't make a worried face while watching the first game, the HBC team. Through today's game, Mr. Pan, who was like this, was able to see that he had a new hope by watching the movements and plays of Vietnamese players.

He promised to meet again at the "4th National Cup Baseball Tournament," which will begin in Ho Chi Minh City from July 22 to 28. The competition would not have been held without the enthusiasm of Chairman Mr. Pan until the "National Cup Baseball Tournament" was held in Vietnam.
