< 나를 필요로 한다면 끝까지 달려갈 것이다 >
 
어제(6일) 늦은 시간에 인도네시아에 도착해 호텔에 도착하니 시간이 많이 늦었다. 간단하게 짐을 챙기고 내일(7일)부터 시작 되는 스케줄에 맞추려면 일찍 잠자리에 들어가야 한다. 나이가 들고부터 이상하게 낯선 곳에서 잠을 잘 자지 못해 막내아들에게 부탁해 '멜라토닌' 한알 먹고 잠자리에 들어갔다.

몇시간 자지 못했지만 오늘(7일)도 어김없이 이른 새벽에 일어나 평소했던 나의 루틴대로 생활했다. 인도네시아 첫날부터 벅찬 스케줄을 소화하기 위해서는 무엇보다 체력이 가장 중요하다. 몇년전만 해도 젊은 선수들이나 지도자들과 전혀 뒤쳐지지 않고 홀로 잘 따라다니고 어린선수들과 함께 운동하곤 했는데 이제는 그렇게 되지 않는구나.

아침 9시 30분에 호텔에서 출발해 10시 인니국가 스포츠위원회 미팅이 있다. 인도네시아 스포츠 총 책임자인 '마르시아노' 회장을 만나기 위해 이미 오래전에 약속을 정한 상태다. 이날 우리들에게 주어진 시간은 30분 가량이다. '마르시아노' 회장과 만나 어떻게 하면 인도네시아 야구가 청소년들에게 희망을 주고 이들에게 꿈을 줄 수 있는지 직접 나에게 질문한다.

인도네시아 야구가 동남아 뿐만 아니라 아시아 및 세계에서도 가능할 수 있는지? 그리고 어떻게 하면 청소년들과 청년들에게 야구를 통해 큰 비전을 줄 수 있는지 등 많은 것을 질문한다. '마르시아노' 회장의 질문이 끝나니 옆에 앉아 있던 부회장도 여러가지 질문을 한다. 그러다보니 나중에는 인도네시아 야구협회 회장까지 질문을 한다.

오늘 많은 이야기 하면서 깜짝 놀란 것은 이들은 나에 대해 이미 상세하게 알고 있었다. 특히 '헐크파운데이션' 재단이 지난 11년 동안 얼마나 많은 일들을 했는지에 대해 상세하게 알고 있다. 지금까지 라오스와 베트남 그리고 캄보디아와 이번에 자기들과 함께 하는 것에 대해 훤하게 알고 있다.

오늘 우리들에게 주어진 미팅 시간은 약 3 - 40분 정도 예정 되어 있는데 '마르시아노' 회장과 부회장 그리고 야구협회 회장이 궁금한 것이 너무 많아 미팅 시간이 무려 한시간 20분이나 했다. 모든 미팅을 다 끝내고 화기애애한 분위기 속에서 '마르시아노' 회장이 개별적으로 사진찍고 단체사진까지 찍다보니 시간이 한시간 30분은 족히 지난것 같다.

점심은 한인타운 식당에 가서 간단하게 점심을 하고 내일부터 있을 훈련 스케줄과 야구장 장소를 구경하기 위해 예전 '2018년 자카르타 아시안게임' 했던 장소로 갔다. 운동장에서 내일부터 있을 훈련 및 스케줄에 대해 상세하게 이야기 했고 또 각자 자기 파트별로 야구장으로 가서 어떻게 할 것인지 '우그라세나'와 이야기 나누었다. 야구장이 3면이나 있기 때문에 정신을 바짝 차리지 않으면 딴곳으로 갈 수 있다.

호텔로 들어와 잠시 휴식을 취하고 곧 있을 이번 행사에 참여하는 선수들의 학부모와 지도자들을 위해 5시부터 준비해야 한다. 이날 나는 6시 15분부터 이번 '트리다야 아카데미'에 대해 강연하는 시간을 갔는다. 나의 강연이 끝나면 곧이어 권혁돈 감독이 '야구에서 배우는 것, 선수 부모로서 우리가 해야 할 일과 기대해야 할 일'에 대해 강연한다. 나와 권혁돈 감독의 강연이 끝나면 학부모와 지도자들에게 질의응답하는 시간을 갔는다.

이 모든 것이 다 끝나면 비록 늦은 시간이지만 저녁 식사 및 네트워킹 세션 을 가진다.

오늘 하루도 긴 시간을 보냈지만 인도네시아 체육회와 야구협회 그리고 야구를 간절하게  기대하고 있는 젊은 선수들과 청소년들에게 이번 기회를 맞아 작은 희망이라도 얻기 위해 모두가 몸부림 치고 있음을 이들과 함께 대화하면서 알게 되었다.

몸이 조금 지치고 힘들어도 야구를 애절한 마음으로 기대하고 있는 이들에게 나의 작은 것이 도움이 된다면 나는 이들과 마지막 날까지 최선을 다해 모두 전해주고 가려고 한다.

It was quite late yesterday (June 6) when I arrived at the hotel in Indonesia. I need to pack my things and go to bed early to meet the schedule that starts tomorrow (July 7). As I got older, I couldn't sleep well in a strange place, so I asked my youngest son to take a melatonin and went to bed.

I couldn't sleep for a few hours, but I woke up early again today (7th) to live up to my usual routine. To handle an overwhelming schedule from the first day in Indonesia, physical strength is the most important thing. A few years ago, I used to follow young athletes and leaders alone without falling behind at all, and exercise with young athletes, but that's not how it works anymore.

Departing from the hotel at 9:30 a.m., there is a meeting of the Indonesian National Sports Commission at 10 a.m. We have already made an appointment long time ago to meet Marciano, the head of sports in Indonesia. We are given about 30 minutes on this day. Meeting Marciano, he asks me directly how Indonesian baseball can give hope to teenagers and give them dreams.

Whether Indonesian baseball is possible not only in Southeast Asia, but also in Asia and the world, it asks many questions, including how to give young people and young people a big vision through baseball. When Marciano's question is over, the vice-president sitting next to him also asks various questions. As a result, the chairman of the Indonesian Baseball Association later asks questions.

What surprised me by talking a lot today was that they already knew about me in detail. In particular, they know in detail how much the Hulk Foundation has done in the past 11 years. So far, we have a clear understanding of Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and what we are doing with them this time.

The meeting time given to us today is scheduled for about 3 to 40 minutes, but the meeting lasted for an hour and 20 minutes because the chairman of Marciano, the vice chairman, and the president of the baseball association had so many questions. After all the meetings, Chairman Marciano took individual photos and group photos in a friendly atmosphere, so an hour and a half seems to have passed.

For lunch, I went to the Korean town restaurant for a quick lunch and went to the place where the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games were held to see the training schedule and the ballpark starting tomorrow. We talked in detail about the training and schedule starting tomorrow on the playground, and we went to the ballpark for each of our parts and talked about what we would do with "Ugrasena". There are three baseball stadiums, so you can go somewhere else if you don't stay alert.

I have to come into the hotel, take a break, and prepare from 5 o'clock for the parents and leaders of the players who are participating in the upcoming event. On this day, I went to lecture on the "Tridaya Academy" from 6:15. Soon after my lecture, manager Kwon Hyuk-don will give a lecture on "learning from baseball, what we should do as players' parents, and what we should expect." After the lecture by me and manager Kwon Hyuk-don, we had a Q&A session with parents and leaders.

When this is all over, we have dinner and networking sessions, even if it's late.

Although I had a long day today, I learned from conversations with young players and teenagers who are eagerly looking forward to the Indonesian Sports Association, the Baseball Association, and baseball, that everyone is struggling to get even a little hope on this opportunity.

Even if my body is a little tired and hard, if my little thing helps those who are looking forward to baseball with a mournful heart, I will do my best to deliver all of them until the last day.
