< 젊은이들로 인해 미래가 보인다 >

인도네시아는 2 - 30대가 이 나라의 60%를 차지 할 정도로 이 나라가 젊다. 나는 베트남만 젊은 줄 알았는데 여기 인도네시아도 상당히 젊은 나라였다. 내가 이 나라가 희망이 있다는 것을 젊은이들을 보며 알게 되었다.

특히 'Ugrasena'는 한국 서울대학교 들어와 석사 과정을 받을 정도로 뛰어난 인재다. 이런 젊은이들이 어떻게 해서라도 예전의 영광들을 다시 되찾기 위해 젊은 청년들이 발벗고 나서고 있다. 이번 프로젝트도 '우그라세나'의 열정적인 섭외로 이루어졌다.

어제(7일) 인도네시아 체육회 '마르시아노' 회장과 만나 그동안 인도네시아 야구가 어떻게 왔고 앞으로 어떻게 달려나가야 하는지에 대해 간단하게 설명하는 시간을 가졌다. '우그나세나'가 '마르시아노' 회장한테 설명한 내용들을 간단하게 간추려 여기에 옮겨 본다.

“저는 '우그나세나'라고 합니다. 'Tridaya Academy'에서 프로젝트 매니저를 맡고 있습니다. 오늘 저는 이만수 감독님이 이끄는 '헐크파운데이션' 팀과 다른 지원팀 동료들과 함께 'KONI' 중앙 사무실에 찾아왔습니다.

이 프로그램을 이야기 드리자면 이 프로그램의 시작점은 최근 몇 년 동안 하락하는 경향이 있는 인도네시아의 야구 발전에 대한 우리의 우려에서 시작되었으며, 특히 세계야구 소프트볼 연맹(WBSC)에서 인도네시아 순위가 계속 하락하고 있습니다.

제가 서울대 '드림투게더' 마스터 프로그램 장학을 통해 한국에서 석사과정을 밟고 있는 시기였는데요. 그때 초청 강의로 오신 이만수 감독님을 직접 만날 기회가 있었습니다. 라오스 국가대표팀을 어떻게 만들어 국제무대에서 경쟁할 수 있었는지 등 아시아 지역 스포츠 발전에 대한 노력 또 관심에 영감을 받았습니다.

그 기회를 통해 저와 '헐크파운데이션' 측 사이가 돈독해지고 자주 소통을 했습니다. 당시에는 구체적인 형태의 프로그램을 형성되지 못했지만 동기부여의 씨앗은 이미 뿌려져 있었습니다.

그리고 약 1년 후, 저는 'Mister Philip'하고 인도네시아에서 만났습니다. 우리는 함께 논의를 계속했고 아이디어들을 구상했습니다. 얼마 후 서울대 DTM 동문들 간의 프로그램 제안 대회에서 저는 이 아이디어를 사례 연구로 제기했습니다. 선수, 코치, 팀 매니저의 역량을 키우고 현대 야구 훈련 시스템에 대한 네트워크와 지식을 넓히고 또는 인도네시아에서 야구 훈련 캠프를 조직하는데 초점을 맞추고 목표로 새우고 있습니다.

이런 저의 제안은 대회에서 우승했고, 저는 바로 '헐크파운데이션' 팀한테 연락했습니다. 우리와 함께 인도네시아에서 이 프로그램을 실현하기로 합의했습니다. 그때부터 우리는 프로그램을 마련했고 다양한 분들하고 논의하며 'KONI'를 포함한 관련 클럽 및 기관과 미팅도 했습니다. 이 프로그램은 지금 실현이 되는 날까지 중앙 'KONI'의 지원에 매우 감사드립니다.

이번 미팅을 통해 이만수 감독님께서 직접 전달할 '헐크파운데이션' 역할을 포함해 이 프로그램에 대해 더 자세히 설명하실겁니다. 인도네시아 스포츠 중에 야구를 발전시키기 위해 우리가 함께 할 수 있는 전략적 조치에 대해 여러분과 논의 할 수 있는 날까지 기대하겠습니다.”

'우그나세나'가 인도네시아 체육회 회장 및 임원들 앞에서 이야기 끝내고 오후에 있었던 학부모와 선수 그리고 지도자들 앞에서도 똑 같이 설명했다. 나 또한 인도네시아 체육회 회장 및 임원들 앞에서 지난 11년 동안 라오스와 베트남 그리고 캄보디아로 내려가 어떻게 그들에게 야구를 전해 주었고 또 어떻게 그들에게 야구를 통해 젊은 청소년들에게 꿈과 비전을 갖게했는지에 대해 상세하게 설명했다.

나또한 '우그나세나'처럼 체육회 회장 및 임원들에게 이야기 했고 오후에 학부모와 선수들 그리고 지도자들 앞에서도 강연했다. 앞에서도 여러번 이야기 했지만 인도네시아에 '우그나세나' 같은 젊은이가 있는 이상 인도네시아 야구는 희망이 있다. 그날이 비록 더디고 오랜 시간이 걸릴지라도 나는 이들의 야구 사랑과 젊은이들이 야구를 통해 희망을 갖고 미래에 대한 꿈을 갖는다면 멀지 않아 인도네시아가 세계를 지배하는 그날이 반드시 오리라 믿는다.

Indonesia is so young that people in their 20s and 30s make up 60% of the country. I thought only Vietnam was young, but here in Indonesia was also quite young. I found out from seeing young people that this country has hope.

In particular, "Ugrasena" is an outstanding talent who has entered Seoul National University of Korea and has received a master's degree. Young people are stepping up to regain their old glory somehow. This project was also done with the passionate casting of "Ugrasena."

Yesterday (7th), I met with Marciano, the chairman of the Indonesian Sports Association, and had a time to briefly explain how Indonesian baseball has come and how it should run in the future. Let's briefly summarize what "Ugnasena" explained to Marciano, the chairman, and move it here.

"I'm Ugnasena. I'm the project manager of 'Tridaya Academy.' Today, I came to the central office of 'KONI' with the Hulk Foundation' team led by Director Lee Man-soo and other support team members.

Talking about the program, the starting point of the program began with our concerns about the development of baseball in Indonesia, which has tended to decline in recent years, and Indonesia's ranking continues to decline, especially in the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC).

It was a time when I was studying for a master's degree in Korea through the scholarship of Seoul National University's "Dream Together" master program. At that time, I had the opportunity to meet director Lee Man-soo, who came as an invited lecture. I was inspired by the efforts and interests in sports development in Asia, including how the Laos national team was able to compete on the international stage.

Through this opportunity, the Hulk Foundation and I became closer and communicated more frequently. At the time, no specific program was formed, but the seeds of motivation were already sown.

And about a year later, I met in Indonesia with 'Mister Philip.' We continued our discussions together and came up with ideas. Soon after, at a program proposal competition among Seoul National University DTM alumni, I raised this idea as a case study. We focus on and aim to develop the capabilities of players, coaches, and team managers, expand our network and knowledge of modern baseball training systems, or organize baseball training camps in Indonesia.

My proposal won the competition and I immediately contacted the Hulk Foundation team. They agreed to make this program happen in Indonesia with us. Since then, we have set up a program and discussed with various people and had meetings with related clubs and organizations including 'KONI'. Thank you very much for the support of 'KONI' until the day this program comes true.

Through this meeting, Lee Man-soo will explain more about the program in detail, including the role of the "Hulk Foundation" that he will deliver. "I look forward to the day when we can discuss with you the strategic measures we can take together to develop baseball among Indonesian sports."

"Ugnasena" spoke in front of Indonesian sports association presidents and executives and explained the same in front of parents, players and leaders in the afternoon. I also went down to Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia for the past 11 years in front of the Indonesian sports association president and executives to explain in detail how they delivered baseball to them and how they gave them dreams and visions through baseball.

I also spoke to the chairman and executives of the sports association like "Ugnasena" and gave a lecture in front of parents, players and leaders in the afternoon. As I have said many times before, Indonesian baseball has hope as long as there is a young man like "Ugnasena." Even though that day is slow and takes a long time, I believe that if their love of baseball and young people have hope and dream of the future through baseball, the day when Indonesia will dominate the world will come soon.
