나는 인도네시아 야구의 발전 가능성을 믿는다. 그들은 오래전부터 잠재력을 가지고 있는 나라다. 그 잠재력은 야구를 향한 그들의 열정과 의지, 배움의 태도이다. 이제 그들의 뜨거운 열정을 꽃피워 줄 누군가가 꼭 필요하다.

야구를 잘하는 것, 야구를 잘 아는 것, 야구를 잘 가르치는 것은 엄연히 다른 영역이다.  인도네시아 야구 수준은 엄청난 속도로 발전할 것이라는 것이 나의 솔직한 고백이다. 내 말이 허황된 말이 아님을 인도네시아 '우그라세나'를 보면 알 수 있다.

머지않아 인도네시아 야구는 무섭게 동남아시아의 강국으로 증명할 날도 멀지 않았다. 왜냐하면 이 나라의 인구가 무려 3억명이나 되기 때문이다. 그 숫자는 어마어마 할 뿐만 아니라 야구의 잠재력 또한 대단할 것이라는 것이 나의 생각이다. 앞으로 '우그라세나'의  지도력으로 인해 유소년 야구와 젊은 청년들을 통해 인도네시아에서 훌륭한 야구 선수를 많이 배출 될 것이다. 단지 속도와 시간의 문제이다. 시간을 앞당기고 속도를 높이기 위해서는 이제 하나의 문화로 자리 잡은 ‘야구’에서 필요한 다양한 종류의 인프라들을 구축해가는 과정이 필요하다. 이미 동남아에서 인도네시아의 야구 인프라는 다른 어느 나라보다 월등하게 좋은 편이다.

이미 인도네시아는 멋진 야구장이 큰도시마다 몇개씩 있다. 단지 기후를 고려한 실내 야구 연습장, 인도네시아 야구 저변 확대를 위한 체육교육과정 구성, 학교 내 야구 스포츠클럽 활성화, 다양한 야구 컨텐츠 개발, 인도네시아 야구협회의 인식변화, 야구 선수들의 개인 의지 등 많은 인프라가 필요하다. 이번 행사를 통해 이후 '우그라세나' 이사와 야구협회 관계자들과 회의를 진행하면서 하나씩 만들어 가려고 한다. 무엇을 어떻게 할 것인지 또 어떻게 하면 이들의 잠재력을 끊여 올릴 것인지 미팅을 통해 하나씩 만들어 갈 생각이다. 앞에서도 잠시 이야기 했지만 이미 이들은 야구 인프라가 동남아 어느 나라보다 잘 되어 있는 상태다. 그렇다면 어떻게 해야 하고 어떻게 젊은층 대상으로 야구를 이끌어 갈 것인지 서로 머리를 맞대어 고민해야 한다.

한국 야구의 역사가 인도네시아 야구의 역사가 되는 평행 이론을 만들기 위해 한국 야구의 과거를 되짚어 보며 하나하나 인도네시아 야구의 발전을 위해 노력하려고 한다. 이제 곧 그 역사가 펼쳐질 것이다.

I believe in the development potential of Indonesian baseball. They are a country with potential for a long time. That potential is their passion, will and learning attitude toward baseball. Now we really need someone to blossom their passion.

Being good at baseball, being knowledgeable of baseball, and teaching baseball well are two different areas. My honest confession is that the level of Indonesian baseball will develop at an incredible pace. You can see by looking at the Indonesian "Ugrasena" that what I say is not a myth.

It will not be long before Indonesian baseball proves itself to be a powerhouse in Southeast Asia. This is because the country has a population of 300 million. It is my opinion that not only is the number enormous, but the potential of baseball is also great.

In the future, Ugrazena's leadership will produce a lot of good baseball players in Indonesia through youth baseball and young people. It's just a matter of speed and time. In order to speed up and speed up time, it is necessary to build various kinds of infrastructure needed in baseball, which has become a culture. Indonesia's baseball infrastructure in Southeast Asia is already far better than any other country.

Indonesia already has several cool baseball stadiums in each large city. A lot of infrastructure is needed, such as indoor baseball practice fields considering the climate, physical education courses to expand the base of Indonesian baseball, revitalization of baseball sports clubs in schools, development of various baseball contents, change of perception of the Indonesian Baseball Association, and personal will of baseball players.

Through this event, we plan to make one by one while holding meetings with the directors of "Ugrasena" and officials of the baseball association. We plan to make one by one through meetings on what to do and how to reduce their potential. As I mentioned earlier, they already have better baseball infrastructure than any other Southeast Asian country. If so, we have to put our heads together and think about what to do and how to lead baseball to younger people.

In order to create a parallel theory in which the history of Korean baseball becomes the history of Indonesian baseball, I will try to develop Indonesian baseball by looking back on the past of Korean baseball. Soon, that history will unfold.
