< 무에서 유를 창조할 수 있을까? >

스텝진들과 함께 인도네시아 들어간지 일주일 되었다. 지난 7월 13일 주일이라 권혁돈 감독과 둘이 인도네시아 '자카르타한인연합교회'로 가 예배드렸다. 세상이 얼마나 좁으면 인도네시아 자카르타 에서 예전 권혁돈 감독이 '문경글로벌선진학교'에서 지도자생활 할 때 코치로 함께 했던 오종민 코치가 인도네시아 자카르타 에 살고 있다.

나는 국내든지 해외로 나가면 반드시 가까운 교회를 찾아 주일 예배 만큼은 반드시 참석해 예배드린다. 이날도 미리 주일이 되기 전에 권혁돈 감독한테 이야기해 여기 인도네시아에도 반드시 한인교회가 있으니 함께 예배 드리자고 했다.

이미 권혁돈 감독이 인도네시아 들어가기 전에 자카르타 안에 한인교회가 있는지 다 섭외해 두었다.

특히 인도네시아 하면 이용규 선교사님이 몽골에서 8년간 사역을 내려놓고 새롭게 인도네시아 들어와 사역하는 곳이다. 이용규 선교사님은 2012년 가을에 가족들과 함께 인도네시아 자카르타 로 들어와 지난 13년 동안 갖은 고생을 하며 절대 허락하지 않을 것 같았던  인도네시아 자카르타에서 최초로 국제 대학교 JIU(Jakarta International University)을 세웠다.

세계 최다 무슬림 보유국인 인도네시아에서 13년간 사역하며 아시아권 선교의 토대가 될 기독 종합대학이 세워지기까지 사람으로서는 도저히 감당할 수 없는 숫한 어려움과 역경을 겪어야 했다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이용규 선교사가 세계 최다 무슬림 국가 인도네시아에서 종합대학 JIU(Jakarta International University)를 세울 수 있었던 것은 오로지 하나님의 신실하신 약속의 성취를 믿었기 때문이다.

신앙인들이나 일반인들이 이용규 선교사님을 알게 되었던 것은 베스트 셀러인 '내려 놓음'과 '더 내려 놓음' 책으로 인해 우리들에게 널리 알려졌다. 우리부부도 이미 '내려 놓음'과 '더 내려 놓음' 책을 다 읽었다.

권혁돈 감독이 이번에 인도네시아에 들어가면 꼭 이용규 선교사님을 만나자는 것이다. 하지만 이용규 선교사님이 1년 동안 안식년을 가졌기 때문에 이번에 이용규 선교사님 만나는 것은 어렵다는 것이다.

그런데 이용규 선교사님이 1년의 안식년을 마치고 12일 늦은 저녁시간에 인도네시아 자카르타에 들어오셨다는 소식을 듣게 되었고 권혁돈감독이 이용규선교사님과 연결이 되어 주일예배 마치고 함께 만나기로 약속했다.

13일 주일 아침 '자카르타한인연합교회'에서 이용규선교사를 만났다.
예배를 드리고  티타임하며 많은 이야기 나누며 좋은 시간을 가졌다. 못다 나눈 이야기는 내일(14일) 인도네시아 자카르타 에서 최초로 기독교 대학을 승인해준 '국제 대학교 JIU(Jakarta International University)'에서 만나 학교도 구경하고 이야기 나누자는 것이다.

앞에서도 이야기 했지만 권혁돈 감독과 함께 코치생활 했던 오종민코치 장인어른은 '자카르타한인연합교회' 장로님으로 계신다. 장로님이 직접 주일과 월요일에 우리를 픽업해 주시고 모든 안내를 다 해 주셨다. (장로님의 따뜻한 사랑을 이 자리를 빌어 진심으로 감사의 인사를 드립니다.)

자카르타 에서 '국제 대학교 JIU(Jakarta International University)' 세우면서 또다시 초,중,고등학교를 세웠다. 몽골에서의 8년 다시 인도네시아에서의 13년은 눈물 없이는 들을 수 없을 정도로 많은 고난과 역경이 있음을 듣게 된다.

이용규 선교사님이 안식년을 가지면서 새롭게 쓴 책이 '약속'이다. 올해 2월말에 이 책이 출판 되었으니 몇달도 되지 않은 책이다. 이용규 선교사님이 특별히 권혁돈 감독과 나에게 친필로 격려의 말씀을 적어 선물하셨다.

이날 특별히 이용규 선교사님이 '국제 대학교 JIU(Jakarta International University)'를 직접 투워 시켜 주셨다.
일일이 함께 걸으면서 어떻게 해서 건물이 들어섰고 또 이 건물의 의미는 무엇인지 상세하게 우리들에게 설명해 주신다. 그냥 보아서는 일반 건물이지만 이용규 선교사님이 직접 투워 시켜 주시면서 설명해 주시니 어떤 의미이고 어떻게 대학 건물과 초,중,고 건물이 들어설 수 있었는지에 대해 알 수 있었다.

물론 앞으로 해쳐 나가야 할 일들이 많단다. 그러나 그럴 때마다 본인이 한것이 하나도 없고 오로지 하나님이 다 하셨기 때문에 기도만 할 뿐이란다. 지난 20년 넘도록 자신의 전공과 다른 것을 시작할 때 막막했던 상황속에도 온전히 순종하며 여기까지 왔단다. 그런데 지금 되돌아 보면 왜 하나님이 자기를 여기까지 오게 했는지 수십년이 지나서야 아주 조금 깨닫게 되었다고 한다. 가만히 생각해보면 이용규 선교사님이 '미국 하버드대학'에서 어렵게 공부했던 전공이 결국 몽골과 인도네시아에서 사역하는데 귀하게 쓰임받을 수 있게 하신 하나님을 보며 놀라우신 하나님을 찬양할 수 밖에 없었다고 한다.

14일 이날은 권혁돈 감독과 함께 잊을 수 없는 시간을 보냈다. 이용규 선교사의 섬세함과 세밀함 또 어렵고 힘들 때마다 도움의 손길로 인해 여기까지 올 수 있었다는 말씀들은 우리를 새롭게 주님 앞으로 나아갈 수 있게 했다. 지난 20년 넘도록 몽골이나 인도네시아에 들어올 때 아무것도 없이 하나님의 말씀에 순종하며 여기까지 오게 되었다고 한다. 그런 자신을 하나님께서 무에서 유를 창조할 수 있도록 이끌어 오셨다고 한다.

이용규 선교사가 세계 최다 무슬림 보유국인 인도네시아에서 종합대학인 국제 대학교 JIU(Jakarta International University) 세울 수 있었던 것도 하나님의 계획이다. 이것을 너무나 잘 알고 있는 이용규 선교사는 전 세계에 있는 청소년들에게 꿈과 비전 그리고 하나님이 어떤 분이시라는 것을 알 수 있도록 교육을 통해 날마다 가르치고 있다. 특히 종합대학인 국제 대학교 JIU(Jakarta International University) 는 이미 초,중,고,대학 젊은이들이 기숙사에서 생활하며 영어로 수업을 받는다.

한국에 들어오는 날 비행기 안에서 이용규 선교사가 친필로 적어서 선물한 '약속' 책을 다 읽었다. 한 페이지 한 페이지 읽을면서 지난 11년 동안 라오스와 베트남 그리고 캄보디아와 인도네시아에 내려와 야구를 전파했던 것들이 오버랩 되면서 나의 눈가에 눈물이 흐른다.

이용규 선교사는 몽골과 인도네시아로 내려와 21년 동안 선교활동을 했다. 나는 거기에 비해 반 밖에 되지 않지만 라오스와 베트남 그리고 캄보디아와 인도네시아로 내려와 얼마나 많은 눈물을 흘렸는지 모른다. 내가 지난 11년 동안 동남아로 내려와 야구를 전파하지 않았다면 솔직히 이용규 선교사의 '약속' 이라는 책을 읽어도 잘 이해할 수 없었을 것이다. 그러나 지난 11년 동안 동남아로 내려와 숫한 어려움과 역경속에서도 여기까지 달려올 수 있었던 것은 나의 노력이나 나의 열정이 아닌 전적으로 하나님의 은혜임을 고백하지 않을 수가 없다.

앞으로 나의 삶이 언제까지 이어질지 모르나 나의 삶이 다하는 그날까지 하나님께서 나에게 주신 야구라는 달란트를 가지고 전 세계로 다니며 야구를 통해 하나님의 복음을 전하려고 한다.

                                                                    < Can we create something out of nothing?>

It has been a week since I entered Indonesia with the staff members. On July 13, it was Sunday, so coach Kwon Hyuk-don and I went to the Jakarta Korean Federation Church in Indonesia to worship. How small the world is, coach Oh Jong-min, who was a coach when former coach Kwon Hyuk-don was a leader at Mungyeong Global Advanced School, lives in Jakarta, Indonesia.

When I go to Korea or overseas, I always visit a nearby church and attend Sunday's service. On this day, before Sunday, I talked to director Kwon Hyuk-don and asked him to worship together because there must be a Korean church here in Indonesia.

Director Kwon Hyuk-don already recruited all the Korean churches in Jakarta before entering Indonesia.

Especially when it comes to Indonesia, missionary Lee Yong-gyu laid down his ministry in Mongolia for eight years and came back to Indonesia to serve. Missionary Lee Yong-kyu came to Jakarta, Indonesia with his family in the fall of 2012 and established the first international university, JIU (Jakarta International University), in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he had suffered for the past 13 years and seemed to never allow it.

After 13 years of service in Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim-majority country, until the Christian University, which will be the foundation of missionary work in Asia, was established, it had to go through difficulties and adversities that humans could not handle. Nevertheless, missionary Lee Yong-kyu was able to establish a comprehensive university called JIU (Jakarta International University) in Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim country, only because he believed in the achievement of God's faithful promise.

The fact that believers and ordinary people got to know missionary Lee Yong-kyu was widely known to us due to the best-selling books 'Putting Down' and 'Putting Down More'. Our couple has already read both 'Putting Down' and 'Put Down More' books.

Director Kwon Hyuk-don wants to meet missionary Lee Yong-kyu when he enters Indonesia this time. However, it is difficult to meet missionary Lee Yong-gyu this time because missionary Lee Yong-gyu had a sabbatical for a year.

However, after a year of sabbatical, I heard that missionary Lee Yong-gyu came to Jakarta, Indonesia, late evening on the 12th, and director Kwon Hyuk-don connected with missionary Lee Yong-gyu and promised to meet together after Sunday worship.

On the morning of the 13th, I met missionary Lee Yong-gyu at the 'Jakarta Korean Federation Church'.

We had a good time to worship, have tea time, talk a lot, and have a good time. What we haven't talked about is that we will meet tomorrow (14th) at the "JiU (Jakarta International University)," which approved the first Christian university in Jakarta, Indonesia, to visit the school and talk about it.

As mentioned earlier, coach Oh Jong-min's father-in-law, who coached with Kwon Hyuk-don, is an elder of the "Jakarta Hanin Union Church." The elder picked us up on Sunday and Monday and gave us all the guidance. (I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for your warm love.)

In Jakarta, he established another elementary, middle, and high school by establishing "JIU (International University of Jakarta)". Eight years in Mongolia, 13 years in Indonesia, we hear that there are so many hardships and adversities that we cannot hear without tears.

Missionary Lee Yong-gyu's new book during his sabbatical is Promise. The book was published at the end of February this year, so it has not been a few months. Missionary Lee Yong-gyu specially wrote words of encouragement in his own handwriting to director Kwon Hyuk-don and me as a gift.

On this day, missionary Lee Yong-gyu personally pitched "JIU (Jakarta International University)" to me.

As we walk together one by one, they explain to us in detail how the building was built and what this building means. It is a general building, but missionary Lee Yong-gyu explained it while throwing it himself, so I could see what it means and how the university buildings and elementary, middle, and high schools could be built.

Of course, there are many things to be done in the future. But every time you do that, you do nothing and only pray because God did it. Over the past 20 years, he has come this far, fully obeying the difficult situation when he started doing something different from his major. However, looking back now, it is said that he has only realized a little after decades why God has brought him here. If you think about it, missionary Lee Yong-kyu said he had no choice but to praise God who was surprised to see God, who allowed his major, which he studied hard at Harvard University in the United States, to be used precious for his ministry in Mongolia and Indonesia.

On the 14th, I had an unforgettable time with director Kwon Hyuk-don. The subtlety and detail of missionary Lee Yong-gyu, and the words that he was able to come this far because of his helping hand whenever it was difficult and difficult, enabled us to move forward with the Lord. It is said that when he entered Mongolia or Indonesia for more than 20 years, he came this far, obeying the word of God without anything. It is said that he has led God to create something out of nothing.

It is also God's plan that missionary Lee Yong-kyu was able to establish an international university called JIU (Jakarta International University), a general university in Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim country. Missionary Lee Yong-kyu, who knows this so well, teaches young people around the world every day through education so that they can see dreams, visions, and what God is like. In particular, young people from elementary, middle, and high schools, and universities, especially at JIU (Jakarta International University), a general university, already live in dormitories and take classes in English.

On the day I came to Korea, I read all the "Promise" books that missionary Lee Yong-kyu gave me on the plane by hand. As I read each page, tears flow in my eyes as the things that have spread baseball in Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia over the past 11 years overlap.

Missionary Lee Yong-gyu came down to Mongolia and Indonesia and conducted missionary activities for 21 years. I am only half the size of that, but I don't know how many tears I shed when I came down to Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Indonesia. Honestly, if I hadn't come down to Southeast Asia and spread baseball for the past 11 years, I wouldn't have been able to understand well even if I read Missionary Lee Yong-gyu's "Promise." However, I cannot help but confess that it is God's grace that has allowed me to come this far after coming down to Southeast Asia for the past 11 years despite some difficulties and adversities.

I don't know how long my life will continue in the future, but until the day my life ends, I will go around the world with the talent called baseball that God gave me and preach the gospel of God through baseball.
