< 길동무가 되어주자 >

20일 이른 아침에 라오스 루앙프라방에 있는 손사랑 감독으로부터 동영상이 하나 날라왔다. 'LUT 나은택 대표'가 라오스 루앙프라방에 최고급 신발을 기부했다. 'LUT 나은택 대표'는 11년 동안 묵묵하게 동남아로 내려가 야구 전파하는 것을 보며 작으나마 도움이 되길 바라는 마음에 기부에 동참하게 되었다.

라오스 루앙프라방에서 야구하는 그들을 위해 '헐크파운데이션' 조경원 단장과 스텝진들이 라오스 루앙프라방으로 자주 넘어가 손사랑 감독과 함께 야구하고 봉사하는 수고를 마다하지 않았다. 지난번에도 이야기 했지만 '헐크파운데이션' 스텝진들이 없었다면 동남아로 내려가 야구 보급은 꿈도 꾸지 못했을 것이다.

어느덧 인도차이나반도에 야구를 전파한지 벌써 11년이 되었다. 지난 시간들을 되돌아 보면 보람된 일도 많았지만 때론 혼자서는 도저히 감당할 수 없었던 일들도 있었고, 그때마다 도움의 손길들로 인해 여기까지 올 수 있었다.

“If you can dream it, you can do it.”
꿈꿀 수 있다면, 그 꿈은 반드시 이루어질 수 있다.

아무것도 없는 척박한 땅에서 야구하는 이들을 보며 야구인의 한사람으로서 많은 생각을 갖게 한다. 특히 소똥밭 위에서 야구를 배우는 아이들. 땀에 젖은 유니폼에도, 신기하게도 그들의 웃음은 선명하다. 가르치는 손사랑 감독도, 배우는 아이들도, 이 꿈을 무겁지 않게 지고 나아간다.

모두가 잠든 새벽, 조용히 야구 글러브를 말리며 기도하는 한 사람이 있다. 그리고 그 옆에서 함께 걸어주는 누군가를 오늘도 기다리고 있다.

이 이야기를 읽는 당신이, 그 길동무가 되어주신다면, 그 꿈은 반드시 현실이 될 것이다.

It has already been 11 years since baseball was spread to Indochina Peninsula. Looking back on the past, there were many rewarding things, but sometimes there were things I couldn't handle alone, and each time, I was able to come this far because of my helping hands.

It makes me think a lot as one of the baseball players when I see them playing baseball on a barren land with nothing. Especially children learning baseball on cowsheds. Even their sweaty uniforms make their smiles look clear. The coach Son Sa-rang, who teaches, and the kids who learn, carry on with this dream.

At dawn, when everyone is asleep, there is one person who quietly dries his baseball glove and prays. And I am waiting for someone to walk with me today.
