< 라오스의 세 번째 꿈을 향하여 >

“라오스를 대표하는 세 도시, 비엔티안과 루앙프라방, 그리고 남쪽의 빡세에 야구팀을 만들어 ‘이만수배 전국야구대회’를 여는 건 어떻겠나?” 김한근 선배가 미소 지으며 물었다. 그 말을 듣는 순간, 마음 한켠이 뜨거워졌다. 10년 전, 라오스 비엔티안에서 처음 야구를 시작할 때만 해도 그것은 ‘불가능한 일’에 가까웠다. 그러나 막연하게나마, 언젠가 라오스 땅에도 전국대회가 열리기를 기도드린 적이 있다.

그리고 어느덧 10년이 흘렀다. 이제 비엔티안과 루앙프라방, 두 팀이 당당히 자리 잡았다. 아무도 예상하지 못한 일이었고, 누구도 꿈꾸지 못했던 일이었다. 그렇기에 더 감격스럽다. 이제 남은 건 단 하나, 남쪽에 세 번째 팀이 세워지는 일이다. 그날이 오면, 라오스에서도 마침내 ‘이만수배 전국야구대회’가 열리며 그때 품었던 막연한 꿈이 드디어 현실로 다가올 수 있다.

요즘 손사랑 코치를 볼 때마다 이 젊은 지도자가 먼 훗날 라오스 국가대표팀 감독으로 서 있을 날을, 그림처럼 그려본다. 그가 이끄는 선수들이 아시안게임, 그리고 세계대회에서 당당히 라오스 국기를 달고 뛰는 모습은 상상만 해도 벅차오른다.

지금까지 내 인생에서 꿈꿔왔던 많은 일들이 더디더라도 결국 하나씩 이루어지는 것을 보아왔다. 그래서 이번에도 라오스의 젊은이들이 야구를 통해 자신의 꿈을 찾아가고, 그 길 위에서 인생을 배워가는 날이 반드시 올 것임을 믿는다.

그날을 위해 나는 오늘도 내 인생의 철학, “Never ever give up”의 마음으로 달려간다.

< 라오스에서 “ 이만수 배 전국야구대회 “를 꿈꾸어 본다 >

10년 만에 라오스 제2의 야구팀이 돌아오는 18일 루앙프라방에서 창단식을 갖는다고 해서 16일 라오스로 들어간다. 루앙프라방에서 좀더 일찍 창단식을 갖으려고 했지만 이번 중국항저우아시안게임에 라오스 야구국가대표 팀이 출전하기 때문에 일단 모든 스케줄은 아시안게임 끝난 후로 미루었다. 

지난 10년 동안 라오스 큰 도시마다 제2의 야구팀 제3의 야구팀을 창단하는 것이 나의 작은 꿈이다. 드디어 돌아오는 10월 18일에 루앙프라방에서 제2의 야구팀이 창설이 된다. 얼마나 기다렸던가... 지난 10년 동안 라오스에서 야구를 전파하고 딱 10년 만에 제2의 야구팀이 탄생하게 된다.

루앙프라방은 세계 많은 사람들이 가장 가고 싶어하는 첫 번째 도시로 손꼽힐 정도로 유명하고 아름다운 도시다. 루앙프라방은 도시 전체가 유명해서 유네스코에 지정된 곳이 많다. 그래서 루앙프라방에서 도시개발을 하려고 해도 마음대로 개발할 수가 없다.

지금도 여행을 좋아하는 세계 사람들이 가장 가고 싶은 나라와 도시가 라오스 북쪽에 위치해 있는 루앙프라방이다. 루앙프라방은 아름답고 천연자연이 그대로 보존된 관광도시이기 때문이다.

이런 아름다운 도시에 제2의 야구팀이 탄생하게 되어 야구인의 한 사람으로서 너무 감격스럽고 영광스럽다. 루앙프라방은 지역적으로 모든 것들이 아직 열악한 편이다. 거기다가 야구장도 없는 정말 척박한 곳이기에 앞으로 해 나가야 할 일들이 많다.

늘 꿈꿨던 일이 10년 만에 현실이 되는 순간이다. 아직 가야 할 일들이 많이 있기에 하나씩 야구 저변 확대를 위해 노력하고 손사랑 감독이랑 함께 뛰어갈 것이다.

10월 18일에 라오스 관광의 도시 루앙프라방에서 제2의 야구팀이 탄생하게 되고 그다음으로 라오스 제2의 도시인 남쪽 싸와나켁에 야구팀이 생기면 그야말로 라오스 남쪽인 싸와나켁에서 시작해 중부지방 비엔티얀 그리고 북쪽인 루앙프라방까지 전국야구대회를 유치할 수 있는 그날이 반드시 올 것이라 믿는다.

지금 라오스에 한국에서 파견한 두 지도자가 있다. 김현민 감독과 이준영 감독이 있다. 처음에 루앙프라방에 비 코치를 파견하려고 했지만 야구를 처음 시작하는 것이라 시작부터 전문성을 갖고 있는 지도자를 파견하는 것이 앞으로 손사랑 감독과 함께 손을 잡고 야구를 시작한다면 좀더 빠르게 야구가 전파될 것이라 확신한다.

이제 라오스도 멀지 않아 대한민국처럼 "이만수배 전국야구대회"가 열릴 것이라는 꿈을 가져본다. 또다시 수많은 사람들이 이것 또한 불가능하고 할 수 없다고 이야기할지 모르나 그렇게 이야기했던 일들이 지금까지 어떻게 되었나? 물론 숫한 어려움과 힘든 과정도 많이 있었지만 역시 시간과의 싸움에서 결국 10년 만에 내가 그렸던 일들이 다 이루어졌다.

"이만수배 전국야구대회"도 멀지 않아 반드시 이루어지는 그날을 기대하며 다시 달려갈 것이다.


                                                < Toward the third dream of Laos>

"Why don't you create a baseball team in three major cities of Laos, Vientiane and Luang Prabang, and then in the south to hold the Iman Su-bae National Baseball Competition?" Kim Han-geun asked with a smile. The moment I heard that, I felt hot inside. When I first started playing baseball in Vientiane, Laos, 10 years ago, it was close to impossible. However, vaguely, I once prayed for a national competition to be held on Laos someday.

And 10 years have already passed. Now two teams, Vientiane and Luang Prabang, have settled down proudly. It was something no one expected, and no one dreamed of. So I am more thrilled. There is only one thing left now, and a third team will be established in the south. When that day comes, the "Lee Man-soo Bae National Baseball Competition" will finally be held in Laos, and the vague dreams of that time can finally come true.

Every time I see Coach Son Sarang these days, I picture this young leader standing as the head coach of the Laos national team in the distant future. Just imagining the players he leads proudly competing under the Laos flag at the Asian Games and world tournaments fills me with overwhelming emotion.
Until now, I have seen many things that I have dreamed of in my life come true one by one, even if it is slow. So I believe that this time, young people in Laos will find their dreams through baseball and learn life on the road.

For that day, I still run to the philosophy of my life, "Never give up."

                                                              <In Laos, dream of "Lee Man-soo's National Baseball Tournament">

Laos' second baseball team will enter Laos on the 16th because it will hold an inaugural ceremony at Luang Prabang on the 18th, when Laos' second baseball team returns for the first time in 10 years. It was planned to hold an opening ceremony earlier at Luang Prabang, but since the Laos national baseball team will participate in this Chinese Hangzhou Asian Games, all schedules were postponed until after the Asian Games.

For the past 10 years, it is my little dream to create a second baseball team in every big city of Laos. On October 18, the second baseball team will be created in Luang Prabang. How long have you been waiting... The second baseball team will be born in just 10 years after spreading baseball in Laos over the past 10 years.

Luang Prabang is one of the first cities that many people in the world want to go to. Because the entire city is famous, many places are designated as UNESCO. So even if you try to develop an urban in Luang Prabang, you cannot develop it at will.

Luang Prabang, located in northern Laos, is the country and city that people in the world still love to travel to. This is because Luang Prabang is a beautiful and natural natural city.

As a baseball player, I am so thrilled and honored to have a second baseball team in such a beautiful city. In Luang Prabang, everything is still poor locally. In addition, there is a lot of work to be done in the future because it is a really barren place without a baseball field.

It is the moment when what I have always dreamed of becomes a reality in 10 years. There are still many things to go, so I will try to expand the base of baseball one by one and run with manager Son Sa-rang.

On October 18, when a second baseball team is born in Luang Prabang, the city of tourism in Laos, and then a baseball team in Sawa Nakek, Laos' second-largest city, I believe that the day will come when we can host the national baseball tournament from Sawa Nakek, in the south of Laos, to Vientyan in the central region, and Luang Prabang in the north.

There are two leaders in Laos who have been dispatched from Korea. There are Kim Hyun-min and Lee Joon-young. At first, I tried to send a rain coach to Luang Prabang, but since it is my first time to start baseball, I am confident that if I start baseball with Son Sa-rang and a leader who has expertise from the beginning, baseball will spread faster.

Now, Laos is not far away, and I dream that the "Lee Man-soo's National Baseball Competition" will be held like Korea. Again, many people may say that it is also impossible and impossible to do, but what has happened so far? Of course, there were many difficulties and difficult processes, but in the fight against time, all the things I had drawn in 10 years were achieved.

The "Lee Man-soo's National Baseball Tournament" will also run again in anticipation of the day that will surely happen soon.
